A few minutes later, I landed on the lakeside in front of our old house. It stood abandoned, with no bodies or signs of a fight. The moment I saw where she was, I fell to my knees. I couldn't sense anything. I flew inside. The plates and glasses were still on the table as we had left them, now covered in dust and dirt. A few plants had grown inside the house. I went into her room. It seemed unchanged; I wanted to see her, so I looked for our albums.
I couldn't find them anywhere. The house wasn't as it was before; it was just fixed to look that way. Somebody had gone through everything. There were no photos of us, no books, or any clues about us in that house. It was all wiped clean as if we had never existed. That made me mad. I ran around the house, flew around the lakeside, trying to sense something. There was nothing, not a scent.
After a few hours, I was feeling hungry. I went inside a nearby bakery. I grabbed a plate, took some pastry, buns, and cakes off the shelf. Sat down in a corner and started eating.
"Pay for those first," the old fat lady at the counter said.
"And I thought you can't see me," I said out loud and appeared next to the large fridge, taking a couple of juice bottles.
"What in the hell?" the old lady screamed.
I grabbed the plate, appeared next to her, said "Thank you," and vanished. I returned to the house and sat at the dining table.
"Come back home, Blue, please," I heard Vienna calling me.
"Come back home, Blue, I miss you," Lilly said. They were both next to each other, trying to summon me.
I ignored them. I wanted to hear and see Rose, but I didn't want to take her away from Robbie or anybody. I tried not to think about her, feeling an unforgettable icy chill every time I walked around the house or lakeside. I wanted to leave. While walking around the yard, I remembered Mom used to dig around the yard sometimes. I realized something I didn't know back then. She had secrets. So I started looking through the yard. I sensed something. I moved my hand around, and suddenly my right hand grabbed a big black box through the mud and sand. I opened it. There was a lot of money, some IDs, and a small album of our photos. At least I got some money and some of her photos. I sat on the ground and stared at the pictures of Mom and me. She said that's when she found out my favorite color. That house and those memories were too much for me. I missed Rose. I could have told her everything. I thought, and I flew up.
It was evening, and I could hear Vienna and Lilly sometimes calling me, but I ignored them as much as I could. There was nowhere I could go. I went to the lake and sat on a chair in front of the water. The trees, the entire lakeside reminded me of her. I couldn't bear it. I went back inside my house, put all the money in a side bag I had in there. I still remembered when Mom brought me the bag. I think I was around twelve.
"Come here, look. You said you wanted a side bag. Here they are," Mom said.
"They look amazing," I said.
"Which color do you want?" she asked.
"There's blue for Blue," she pointed to the blue side bag.
"It looks very nice, but it's not me," I said.
"Oh, OK! There's red, green, purple, and pink?" she asked.
"Pink looks adorable, but that's not for me," I replied.
"There's orange and yellow?" she suggested.
"Ew, disgusting," I said.
"But you love oranges," Mom asked.
