Can't Help Falling In Love With You.

Summer 2008.

1.

Harry was fifteen when he accidentally met Louis. It hadn't been an actual accidental meeting per se but if Harry hadn't gone to football tryout that Saturday afternoon in July in 2008, they would have never met. Harry hated football! He hated it with a passion. He didn't like to watch it on the telly even though every boy his age and every man seemed to be obsessed with the game! He could not understand the fascination with men running after a piece of leather and trying to get it into a net! He didn't like to play it or even entertain the idea of playing it, yet here he was, in sweats and a purple Hollister hoodie on the pitch of The Rover's football ground. He didn't even know that the Doncaster football team were called The Rovers let alone that The Rovers had tryout to scout new players for the under 16's team! Harry scoffed at himself. As if he was going to make it into the team let alone as a professional footballer! He didn't want to be a professional football player! He could hardly walk without tripping on his own feet let alone run and juggle a ball with his uncoordinated legs. He just wanted to go home and read a book in the quiet solitude of his room.

But he was here because his parents, mostly his father had forced him to be here. His parents were both lawyers, his father was a criminal lawyer and his mother was a domestic lawyer. They were strict and all about Harry's education for the future which they had mapped out for him without asking him what he wanted to do for his actual future. Harry was to go to sixth form, then to college and on to study to become lawyer like them. Harry had no choice in the matter just like he didn't have a choice in being here. His parents had sat him down and told him that he should have extra-curricular activities which would look good on his school leaving certificate and college applications. Harry had pointed out that he was already in the Literature Club, Drama Club, Photography Club, volunteered at the homeless shelter, at the Library, and worked at the Bakery Cafe. His father had told him that all that was simply exceptional but sports was a must too and that he must appear athletic not just academic on his school leaving certificate and so it was that on this warm Saturday afternoon, Harry was here to hopefully make the team and play football. He just had to make the team to make his parents proud and get them off his back! The sound of a shrill whistle made Harry jump.

'What's your name son?' Harry raised his head and found himself staring at a middle-aged man who had Coach written to the side of his red polo shirt. But Harry's eyes didn't linger much on the man. Instead, they drifted to a boy standing next to the Coach with the most piercing blue eyes Harry had ever seen, a soft fringe across his forehead and a gentle smile. Harry gulped and felt his face heat up and he knew that his damn cheeks were probably as red as a tomato.

'Son, your name,' the Coach asked again.

'Ugh yeah um H-Harry. Styles Sir,' he mumbled as he fidgeted with the strings of his hoodie. He saw the boy with the blue eyes press his lips together to stop himself from laughing and Harry blushed harder. He couldn't help that he was nervous because he wasn't in his element! Any kind of sports or physical activity was not his element. It wasn't like he was socially awkward or found it hard to make friends! Sports was not his forte and the fact that there was this beautiful boy laughing quietly at him was making him even more nervous. He saw the coach write on his clipboard.
