Chapter 20

The travelling wasn't a real pleasure.

With Dusty in those conditions, Kat seemed able to fly only for few seconds.

Her stasis field seemed to work, and so her special moves, so her only problem was her gravity manipulation.

I had to escort her with my chains to the path, and since I needed my hands free, we decided for a piggy back.

And no, it wasn't funny at all, it was humiliating.

I felt as embarassed as she was.

Pheraps that's why it seemed longer than usual.

Anyway, just like the other times, along the way we found another apple tree, where Kat gained more energy.

It didn't take much to reach the half of the city, though the main part was a giant tower. Although, it was set vertically, so it seemed more like a bridge.

Me:"Guess we're here. You know what happens next."

Kat:"Unfortunately..."

Right on cue, a big Nevi shaped as a flower popped out from the top of the tower.

Smaller versions came out all over it.

We gave a look at Dusty, who was trying to spit something out.

Me:"What's wrong with him? Did he ate something funny?"

Kat:"Maybe, but what could it be!?"

Me:"I don't know, but it'll be a problem. Take care of the main one, I'll deal with those around the tower."

Kat:"Pheraps this new power might be handy in this situation."

I left her on the tower while I went to the closest Nevi.

I crushed it with no effort, but they were all scattered and far from each other, so it wasn't very easy to reach them one by one.

Me:"I don't have time for this! Let's see if I can speed it up."

I grabbed my shotgun and managed to kill the closest one, but the others were too distant to aim properly.

Me:"Well, at least I tried."

Ghost Rider:"You'd better focus more about your surrounding."

Me:"Wha-"

Before I could finish, a flying Nevi hit me from behind and made me fall down.

Me:"Damn it!"

I unleashed my chains and destroyed the Nevi while stopping my fall.

Though I was literally hanging on a thread.

Or a 'chain', I guess.

Me:"A little warning, next time!?"

Ghost Rider:"What did I just do? Don't blame me for your mistakes."

I tried to ignore him and went back killing the Nevi.

And when even the last one was out, I made the signal.

Me:"Kat, the small fries are done! Get rid of it now!"

As on cue, she and Dusty charged together and like the other time she crashed the Nevi's orb.

I joined her as the part of the town was coming back to its place.

Me:"Another job done, it seems."

Kat:"We're going at full speed!"

We heard some coughing and saw Dusty spitting something black out.
