I had just woken up and stepped foot onto the creaking floorboard. I walked to the bathroom and washed my face with cold water to help wake me. The water was freezing and didn't take long for me to wake up. It was summer and my family owned a beach house and we spent every summer there. I had 2 older brothers and their names were Jack and Conner. Conner was 19 and Jack was 18. I was 16. That tells you how my love life goes.
It was July twenty first and it was the third day of summer. The fun had already began.
Five days before
Today I woke up and immediately started packing for the beach house. I was so excited to get away and get to my happy place already. And you know me I love the beach and I love traveling so this was a win, win. The beach house was down in the Bahamas and it took a whole day to get there all the way from California. The California beaches were nothing compared to the Bahamas. We used to live in Florida because my dad is military but then we came here to California. I miss Florida. I made so many friends there and it was always gorgeous outside. Do I even have to mention the weather? Florida was amazing. Anyways we got a house in the Bahamas and we travel there pretty much every summer. It's a pretty nice house on the beach. The surf was always amazing in the summer. Although I wouldn't know what it was like any other time of the year. Surfing has a special place in my heart. It's part of my family to. I've been surfing for as long as I can remember. I love having the waves slash against my white surf board covered in waterproof stickers. I can't wait to stand up on the waves and feel the cold wind whirling around my body as I travel down the waves in the evenings. I am almost finished packing when Conner comes in my room and plops on my bed and says "why are you packing so early?" "Because we all know I can't wait to get there and I have to make sure I have everything I need." I say this and he just leaves because he thinks packing is boring yet he always forgets to pack something important. One year it was even his swim shorts. I don't even know how he forgot to bring them. I mean we're going to the Bahamas. The Bahamas. The most beautiful place on earth in my opinion. The next day we make sure everything is packed in the car. "Mommmm, hurry up we're gonna miss our flight!" I say as everybody gets in the car. My mother is very much an overpacker. But I don't blame her, it's nice to have extra things if something goes wrong. It's a two day flight and I can't wait to get there. We finally arrived at the airport and boarded our flight to texas and to the Bahamas from there. We rented our car and prepared to spend the whole summer here. It was so breathtaking here. You couldn't even believe the fresh smelling scent in the air from the waves crashing and crashing over again. I miss this place so incredibly much. I couldn't wait to get on the water but first I for sure needed to take a nap and get rid of this jet lag. I stepped into the house once we got there and it felt like I stepped into my dream home. It was perfect. I put my things in my room and plopped on my bed exhausted from all the traveling for two days. I fell asleep before I knew it and woke up the next morning to the smell of something wonderful.
