Olivia Denver's POV:

"Remember your name? I thought you didn't believe in those," I say flatly.

Danny pinches me on my shoulder. I turn towards him and say enraged, "You realize what Creep is saying? It's not a rescue mission, it's suicide."

Danny lowers his head in silence. I turn to my left to look at Creep. His whole face is covered in grey and black ashes. His eyes are shining yellowish under the last rays of the Sun.

"You've to find another way," I say, staring at Creep.

"There is no other way." He wipes the ashes on his face with a handkerchief. "Look, our universe having 16 dimensions is still an unproven theory. Honestly, I didn't truly believe in it until I saw Laura in that smoke. And now I've seen her in that miserable state. I can't let her just die."

"So you'll just die for her?"

"It won't be only for her. That evil soul has killed more than fifty people till now. Who knows where that number will stop. I can go there and kill him."

I keep my hands clasped on my chest. Disapproval of his suicide plan is written over my whole face. He looks at me and turns towards Danny.

"The world would be a better place without that evil soul," says Creep, turning back at me.

"And what would the world be without you?" I prompt instantly.

He keeps his lips sealed and walks towards the car. Turning the engine on he says, "We shouldn't waste more time. Every second is precious for Laura."

Even Laura wouldn't have agreed to his plan. But he seems hell-bent on doing it. Thus seeing no effect of my words I step into the car following Danny.

Creep drives like a maniac again. He doesn't lower the speed even at corners but I don't see Danny protesting this time. We all stay silent and reach the Creep's house in a few minutes.

He takes us back into the room looking like Google's data center. He taps a few buttons on the keyboard and a white wall at the end of the room splits into two parts like an elevator door.

The space revealed after the sliding wall is like a normal elevator. He types some more and a bluish but transparent door appears in front of it.

"This is the address of my devil friend." He puts a piece of paper in my palms.

My eyes well up as he walks towards the elevator. In a final attempt to stop him. I ask in a saddening voice, "Can't we get some help from an expert?"

He puts his legs towards the elevator and it passes through the transparent door. He gets into it and turns towards us. "I'm the expert."

"We'll remember your name," says Danny to him with sore eyes.

He nods, smiling. "Detective, I need your help." He points towards the keyboard. "Hit enter."

I advance my hands towards it but my whole body shivers. "I can't do it." I pull my hands back. Tears roll down my cheeks.

Danny presses the button and wraps his arms around me. I keep sobbing. His eyes are teary too.

Bluish flames rise in the elevator and Creep disappears. In the center of flames, Laura appears sitting on a ship's floor. Her hands in her laps are tied with chains. Her face has many cuts and bruises. Blood drips from her left corner of mouth.

Creep appears in view as he runs to her. His hands are moving very fast trying to undo the chains. A clapping sound comes from somewhere.

Captain Jaffer, dressed in a white shirt and pants, appears in view. "Vadim Saltzar who calls himself expert of Ghosteince." He keeps clapping.

Walking towards them he stops just two steps away. "This is the 13th dimension, Vadim. You're a human so you can't go back from here. I thought being an expert you'll know that."

Creep stands straight and looks him in the eye. "I'm not here to go back. I'm here to kill you."

Jaffer's face turns red and he advances his right hand very quickly towards Creep's stomach. Creep's face turns pale, blood drips from around his stomach.

As he detaches himself from Jaffer. A big bloodied knife is seen in Jaffer's hand. "No, Vadim. It's only you who'll go down tonight."

"But if I am then I'm taking you with me." Creep sprints forward in a blaze. He gets another stab in him but he keeps moving forward taking Jaffer along with him. They reach the end of the ship.

Jaffer struggles to stand straight as Creep keeps pushing him downward at the fence of the ship. Creep's one hand goes inside Jaffer's shirt and comes out with the big necklace of the Devil.

He throws the necklace towards us. It comes out of the bluish door and Danny catches it. Creep pushes Jaffer more and they both drop off the ship into the ocean.

The bluish flames fade and disappear into thin air. I only see a normal grey wall of elevator.

"No. No, come back. Creep. I won't call you a creep anymore. Please." I fall on my knees and keep pleading with folded hands. But nothing comes.

A few minutes later, Danny picks me up from the floor. "He's gone, Olivia." He hugs me tightly. With my face leaning on his shoulder I keep sobbing.

We pick up the Necklace and with a cab reach the address given. A tall and wide man with a pale face opens the door. I put the necklace in his palms and his face lightens up.

"Why don't I see the ghosthunter?" he asks, looking behind us.

"His name was Vadim Saltzar," I say enraged, and turn back towards the cab. Danny comes following me. We step into the cab and it starts moving.

The cabbie doesn't slow down when a turn comes. Tires screech hard as he turns the steering wheel quickly and misses another car by mere inches. "Careful, Idiot. We don't wanna join the ghost club yet." Danny yells.

"Not all dead turn out to be ghosts," I say, recalling Laura's words. As I say it a spark run in my head echoing: strong desire in the moment of death.

"Danny put on that earpiece. Now." I say excitedly.

He gives a confused look for a moment but then puts it on.

"You miss me?" comes Laura's sweet voice in my earpiece.

Danny lets out his brightest smile. Smiling, I let my head slide on his shoulder and ask her, "Are you alone?"

"No. We're together," says the duo in a consortium.

"Us too," I say and Danny and kisses my forehead.

"Great work, Olivia," says Laura. "As I said earlier we shouldn't delve into past but instead should cherish the present."

"And if you truly love someone, their flaws won't matter," adds Vadim.

Are you alone? No. We're together. (Book 3) ✔️Where stories live. Discover now
