*3rd PoV*
Romano was hanging out with Spain because he had nothing better to do, at least that's what he kept reminding the other.
Nothing was out of the ordinary until a sharp pain spread all over his body.
Romano fell on his knees, his hands pushing on his chest as if he would pass through the skin to grab his heart. He gasped for air as tears strarted leaking from his eyes.
Romano eventually passed out after a few seconds, unable to endure the excruciating pain much longer
~~~In Romano's head~~~
Romano looked around but the forest was so thick he could barely see his surroundings. He eventually spotted a small clearing and decided to head towards it.
Leaves crunched under each footstep the Italian took as the wind made a swooshing sound that seemed to accompany the song of the birds that hid in the trees.
Romano reaches the small clearing. Veneziano layed in front of him. The younger twin looked asleep up until he sat up with his amber eyes wide open
"Ve~ Romano! Come here!"
Romano did as asked and walked towards his younger twin, but before he could sit down, the younger tackled him to the ground in a hug prison. Romano wiggled around, fighting for his freedom but eventually accepted his faith.
A few minutes passed and the Italians stayed completely still. "Veneziano, it's been over 5 minutes. I let you have your hug therapy but now let me go!" Romano protested, attempting to push the other away. A transparent liquid rolled down his brother's cheek and fell on to Romano's cheek, making him freeze.
"Vene, what's wrong? Did I say something wrong? Is it that damn potato bastard? I swear I'll make him regret hurting y-"
"It's not you or Germany, fratello," Veneziano cut his southern twin off. "I'm just sad to say goodbye. Ve~" he tried to smile, yet the expression only seemed to be filled with sadness.
"Say... Goodbye? Idiota what do you mean? You're not going anywhere.... right?" Romano almost whispered the last part. He also started to cry as he realized what was happening.
"Say goodbye? What is that supposed to mean idiota? You're not going anywhere... far-right?" Romano hesitated at that last sentence. His voice was filled with worry.
"I'm sorry, Romano. You're heart is Rome, mine is Venice," Veneziano let go of the hug and stood up. He held out a hand to his brother and helped him up. "You have the capital and my heart is sinking. I would have to go one day"
This time, it was Romano's turn to hug his brother, "No. You're not going anywhere. You're staying here idiota," Romano fought back sobs. He knew this day would come, as much as he denied it. He wasn't ready for it to finally arrive and honestly he would never be.
The brothers held each other tightly as they both cried. The older kept mumbling, asking the other not to leave, while the younger kept apologizing for leaving.
Romano suddenly dropped to the ground, sitting on his knees. He looked up at Veneziano, who was already more than half transparent.
He was fading away too quickly, neither of then were able to process it in time.
The twins had just been separated and they didn't even get the chance to say "goodbye".
