🎼 Bad Girls by M.I.A 🎼
---
As always, Davi's was the loudest place on the block at night. What people liked even more about going there for lunch was going there for dinner. The bachelor's would file in first, not too long after getting off work. Then the married men would come in after having dinner with their families. A few women had their spot in the party, most representing the "one of the guys" type.
The jukebox played song after song, changing between country and classic rock. The intoxicated patrons fought over their games of pool, darts, foosball, and skeeball - all in good fun, of course.
While Selene worked the bar, Isla-Rose waitressed by herself. She worked the floor, engaging the customers like she'd known them for years.
As quiet as she was, she knew how to smile and engage, especially when it came to earning tips. The intoxicated lustful men questioned her constantly, trying to find out where she'd come from, but Isla-Rose gave them nothing. Just winks, smiles, and evasive answers that oddly made them swoon even more. It only watered their intrigue.
From behind the bar, Selene watched her co-worker closely. They hadn't said much to each other outside of tables and orders.
As much as she wanted to become acquainted with the girl she'd be working beside for God knows how long, Selene was very much aware that Isla-Rose was not an open book.
As the bartender was uncapping a cold beer, her close friend and co-worker Brianna came fumbling into the bar.
"I'm so sorry I'm late," she hurried behind the bar to put her stuff away and grabbed an apron.
"Don't worry about it. You know Davi doesn't care. You already called ahead of time."
"I know," she huffed, putting her hair up in a messy bun. "The freaking car wouldn't start. Diego didn't want to fix it."
"Of course," Selene rolled her eyes, not surprised.
"We got in an argument and -"
"That happened?" Selene briefly gestured to the bruise wrapped around the side of her neck.
Brianna gulped, having forgotten to put make-up on it.
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna say anything," Selena went to the register to add a drink to someone's tab.
"If it helps, it's from days ago."
Selene scoffs at her, "does it make me hate your husband any less? No, Brie, it doesn't."
"I -"
"How'd you get here?"
Brianna grabs a pen and notepad. "I drove. I just kept turning the key until it started. We need to get rid of that damn thing."
"Amongst other things," Selene murmured, getting an eye roll from her friend. "Lucky for you, I had help tonight. We got a new girl," she points to Isla-Rose, who was cleaning off a table.
Brianna recognized her instantly. "That's my new neighbor. The girls have been talking about her all day. Sara thinks she's a princess."
"Damn, even your kids are talking about the new girl."
Brianna noticed the customers eye-boggling her new neighborhood.
"Guess who else thinks she's pretty?" Selene pulled her attention away.
Brianna arched a curious brow.
"Davi."
"Davi?" she was surprised to hear.
