The taxi drove Caroline to the air port. It was time for her to return home, to her New York home. To her tiny one bedroom apartment. The place that sheltered her from anything and everything.
As Caroline climbed the steps to her apartment, she stopped seeing a figure at her door.
"Hey girl." Vincent said
Caroline flew up the steps to Vincent hugging him. She hadn't seen him in a long while. Losing one brother was awful but she remembered she gained one.
"Wow, you're crazy grown up doll." he laughed kissing her head
"You haven't seen me in a few months silly." Caroline laughed unlocking her apartment forgetting about the mess
Vincent gasped "What happened here?"
"Oh this." her cheeks tinted pink "I slipped?"
He laughed "Slipped and hit every picture? So tell me Care what have I missed?"
"A lot." she breathed out
His blue eyes held a sparkle that hers used to "Where is the baby?" he wondered
Caroline bit her lip "See that's one of the things you've missed. I miscarriaged."
His face fell grabbing Caroline and hugging her "I'm sorry sweets."
"It's alright. It wasn't meant to be." she answered "Tea?" she asked breaking away from the embrace
Vincent nodded "Sure."
Caroline made their tea and sat down. She talked about James cheating, losing the baby, his drunk habits, rehab, Chris and Sebastian then finally Dalton.
"How?" Vincent asked holding his mug
"How are things with Brice?" she asked feeling uncomfortable
The older blonde smiled "Fantastic. We're getting married soon. He insisted you be in the wedding."
Her blue eyes held a small sparkle "Oh Vince I'd be delighted."
"Good, I'll let him know." he looked at his watch "I hate to cute this short but I have to meet Brice and his sister for lunch."
Caroline smiled and walked him to the door "See you soon."
He nodded and pulled her into an embrace "Call if you need anything."
She nodded "I will."
After her brother left the apartment, it felt empty and dry. Having another person in her home felt nice.
Days later Caroline found herself in front of a white door. It attached to a tan house with white shutters. Her hand hovered over the door for a moment before knocking.

James wasn't sure if what he did was good or not. In the end he realized it was selfish. As he laid in bed that night he stared at the white ceiling.
As he closed his eyes he pictured the scene playing in his head like a movie. He was in his bedroom with Caroline who was clearly upset. It was visible from the tracks from her tears. He remembered they talked about her past. The one she refused to tell anyone, yet she trusted him enough.
"Thank you." she said after a silent minute
James raised a brow "For what?" he asked
"For listening to me and making me wake up and realize I am capable of being loved." she replied
"You will always be capable of being loved Caroline." James said pecking Caroline cheek
Sighing he knew that he was right. She would always be capable of being loved. But not by him, not anymore at least. James questioned who she would date. Maybe Chris Evans he was Capitan America every women loved him. Or maybe that Sebastian Stan guy. He seemed like he attracted plenty of attention from women as well. Jealousy swelled inside as he imagined any of them touching Caroline or kissing her. James messed up by telling her goodbye for good. It would eventually eat him alive.
James thought more of who she might date. Maybe that Carter guy she used to be friends with. He had nice green eyes, at least that's what Caroline said. James prayed that she wouldn't end back up with Andrew. If so he would feel responsible for pushing her right into his arms again. There was a bit of pain and panic he held thinking about her back with him.
"She wouldn't." James said aloud "She said she'd never go back to him."
He was hoping it was just him being an over thinker and she wouldn't be dumb to do this.
Hey guys! Things will pick up in the story. I know things seem lame but bare with me here. Xxx
