The white door swung open and hazel eye's met Carolines.
"Can I help you?" a red haired women asked nicely
She was pretty, tall and slim.
Caroline nodded "Andrew, is he home?"
"Yeah come right in." she opened the door wider
Caroline stepped inside and looked around the familiar house. The walls had new paint on them brightening up the place. New pictures had been added as well as furniture.
"I'll get him for you." she walked off to the upstairs
Caroline looked around and shifted from one foot to the other. She heard muffled voices then a heavy set of footsteps.
Andrew stood in front of her, blue button up shirt with dark jeans. His hair was neat and he looked handsome.
"What are you doing here?" Andrew asked, not in a harsh way. No, more surprised.
"I." Caroline started her voice quiet before sighing "I wanted to talk." her voice more confident now
He nodded and motioned to the kitchen "Coffee?" he asked
"Sure." she replied taking a seat watching him make her coffee
Funny how he still remembered how she liked her coffee "What's up Caroline?" he asked hanging her the mug, taking a seat himself
She sighed "Andrew about our past." Carolines blue eyes traveled up to his blue-green ones
Andrew's eyed held tears as the words left her mouth "I'm so sorry Caroline. I never realized what I was doing to you." he whispered "I knew, I just didn't know the effect it had on you."
"I'm not going to say it's alright because it wasn't. But I'm here to forgive you." she set a gental hand on his arm "We have to forgive to move on."
He shook his head "Caroline, I don't deserve your forgiveness."
"But you do. That women upstairs clearly loves you. To be hers completely, we need to forgive ourselves." she explained
He nodded "Thank you."
Her lips parted to show her teeth in a smile "No, thank you. I needed this to be free." she took a sip of her coffee "What's her name?"
"It's Bianca. We're getting married in three months." Andrew said happily "How are you and James?"
"We're no longer together." Caroline answered
He nodded "How does that work with the baby?"
It appeared to Caroline that Andrew wasn't to caught up in her life. She didn't get angry or anything. She explained what happened "I lost the baby." she replied
"I'm so sorry. You always wanted kids." he said showing her sympathy
"It's okay." she shrugged "It'll happen eventually for me."
As Caroline left a while later, she felt lighter. Something about facing her demons and putting it all behind her gave her freedom. Being able to move on gave her a sense of happiness.
