The first social studies class was scheduled for a Friday morning, which really messed with Arthit's sleeping schedule. He had meticulously planned his courses around being able to sleep in, and now he was being forced out of bed before 8am. It was ridiculous! Especially for a course that didn't even exist on his schedule until recently.
When he woke up, there was a text waiting for him on his phone,
Good Morning P'Arthit. I hope you slept well. I'm excited to see you in our class together today. :-)Involuntarily, his lips quirked upwards into a smile as he brushed his thumb over the words. It had been a strange few weeks since they had confessed on the bridge. Strange for many reasons, but mostly because since that moment, Kongpob hadn't pushed him to do anything.
He hadn't tried to spend all of his time with him.
He hadn't tried to get into Arthit's room.
He hadn't forced Arthit to talk to him around campus.
And he hadn't tried to kiss him again. It was completely unexpected. Part of the reason he had held off on telling Kongpob how he felt, was that he was scared that there would be too many unreasonable expectations of him as soon as it was said. That his junior would force him into some kind of public display of affection or be more expressive in front of their friends.
But Kongpob was respecting him and giving him the space he sorely needed after such an emotional outburst. After all, it wasn't like either of them had been in a relationship with another man before.
But now, Arthit was beginning to worry. Were they even in a relationship? Was Kongpob having second thoughts about his feelings?
He facepalmed briefly while he thought about what they had done. Maybe it just wasn't enough for the other man?
The most they had done was eat dinner together twice at the little restaurant near their dorms. And even then, Kongpob hadn't made any embarrassing declarations or tried to hold his hand or anything.
Arthit supposed that it was kind of nice. They had wandered home together and Kongpob had insisted on taking him to the lobby of his building. But he hadn't tried anything else and it was so unlike his pushy junior that Arthit was certain he had messed up somewhere.
They hadn't discussed any previous relationships. Although he was pretty certain that Kongpob had worked out that his Phi had never had one before. Just as Arthit was certain that someone as charming and handsome and straight forward as his junior, had.
However, he was worried about what exactly Kongpob thought his declaration and kiss had meant. He had thought that Kongpob would have been as demanding as he was that first night, trying to get him to kiss him again. But he hadn't been. Maybe he had changed his mind?
Sure, Kongpob had continued to flirt with him and make suggestive remarks in the presence of his friends, but that was normal by now, so no-one suspected anything. They just teased him like they always did. He was used to the hot flush creeping up his neck at whatever cheesy thing Kongpob chose to say.
Maybe Kongpob was waiting for Arthit to initiate something else? Maybe he thought that Arthit wanted to take charge since he confessed first? Wanted to initiate another kiss or a date perhaps?
But Arthit was so shy. It had been incredibly hard to even speak with him that time on the bridge. He was waiting on Kongpob. He wanted his junior to show him how he felt next.
Maybe he hadn't made it clear?
Would he have to actually talk properly about his feelings?
Were all relationships this hard?
Shrugging out of his thoughts, Arthit headed for the shower hopeful that the day would only get better after the enforced early start.
It didn't.
