They passed me by

All of those great romances

You were, I felt, robbing me

Of my rightful chances

*Flashback*

Gryffindor had lost. Again. This time it had all been your fault. As seeker on the team it was your job to catch the snitch, and you had nearly caught it. That was until your boyfriend swooped in front of you to beat a bludger that you could have easily dodged. He blocked you and the Ravenclaw seeker caught the snitch, thus winning the match. Now Gryffindor was out of the championship and you were hella pissed at a certain raven haired beater.

*End of Flashback*

"Sirius, I know you want to protect me, but I got this.

"I just don't want you to get hurt (y/n)."

"This is Quidditch. Getting hurt is part of the game."

"(y/n)—"

"I'm a big girl Sirius. I can take care of myself. Why are you always so fucking overprotective?" You snapped.

"Well I'm sorry for actually caring about you." He snarled back.

"I know you care about me, but you need to stop treating me like... like some porcelain vase that could break at any second."

"You know that I don't think of you like that."

"Yeah, well you don't act like it. How do you think it's going to look on my application for the Holyhead Harpies? 'Seeker (y/l/n), failed to win a championship because her boyfriend was too scared to let her play'. You know, when we got together I thought I had finally found someone to respect me enough to not hinder me in achieving my dream. I guess I was wrong."

"What are you saying (y/n)?"

You paused. "I'm saying that we're done."

He froze, shocked.

"Goodbye Sirius." You said and stormed out of the common room.

You walked down into the castle grounds and headed towards the lake. The calm water and trees swaying in the distance always calmed you. This was exactly what you needed right now. Some peace and quiet to clear your mind.

Now it's different, I want you to know

One of us is crying, one of us is lying

In a lonely bed

Staring at the ceiling

Wishing she was somewhere else instead

At that moment, his heart shattered. (y/n) had finally uttered the words he had hoped never to hear from her.

"Sirius? You alright mate?" James asked.

"Fine." He muttered, "I'm going to bed."

Before James could say anything, he turned and headed up to the dormitory. Sirius climbed out the window onto the roof where he and (y/n) used to sit for hours watching the stars. With fumbling fingers he lit a cigarette and took a long drag. He knew that he could be overprotective sometimes, but he loved (y/n) too much to see her hurt.
