You killed her,
You killed her,
You killed Claire.
The thoughts ringed in my head for what felt like a thousand times, breaking every piece of my fragile mind.
I stared at my freckled face in the shattered mirror. Who would've thought, the goody two shoes, the mother of the group was the reason Claire was dead. What would Alex think of me if she realized I'm the reason she's dead, or Neveah, or my siblings, or everybody who trusted me. Would they be mad? Or will they never talk to me again? Never forgive me? Resent me? If they found out about all the things I've done will they think I'm a monster?
If I had just taken Alex we would've been there in time, or if we didn't stop at Target, or stop for Neveah, or even if we didn't sleep at all?
Mascara was tattooed on my cheeks, but every second I was only adding more. I slumped against the broken bathroom door. My brunette hair was tangled and unbrushed, the same as it has always been for weeks. My stomach growled for food that I couldn't give it in the state I was in.
My cabin bathroom has been the only place I went since we got back a couple days ago. No food, no contact with the outside world, just me.
I stared at my wrist. I swept my other hand over my wrist, revealing three marks. Each of them has a story, but for now I'll only tell one.
One day I was facing a Legend, an evil one. Then I got too close, our shoulders grazed each other. The Legend's skin turned a milky white as all her energy was drained from her. I remember the single sound as her sword fell to the ground. I went closer to inspect her but when I was inches away I heard a crackling sound. I glanced down on my hand and electricity had sparked between my fingers, it quickly went away though. As I moved closer, I noticed her stomach had stopped going up and down. That's when I realized that I wasn't just a Mind Controller, I was a Remover too.
The sound of a soft voice brought me out of my thoughts.
"Olivia, can you come out please?" A worried Neveah asked. I stood up from my spot on the floor and watched my reflection in the mirror.
"Neveah, can you go please?" I asked. I could almost feel her hopeful smile emerge to a frown.
"Not until you come out and eat." Neveah countered, trying to open the locked door.
"Neveah, go!" I replied.
"No...." I glanced at my broken reflection as some of the splintered glass started to tumble out of it's glued place.
"Neveah, I said go!" Her flip flops made sure that she was leaving, as she walked away. As I glanced up I noticed my eyes were fading from teal to blue again.
I never meant to use it on her, I promised and I broke it.
My vision became hazy, thoughts stormed my head. I pressed my hands to my ears trying to block them out. I felt my mascara start to become runny again. Blood ran from my nose, trailing onto my upper lip. My eyes started flickering from teal to blue. Then I couldn't take the excurling pain anymore and I gave in.
The world flickered before me, until it went pitch black.
Something's wrong. That was the first thought that popped into my head when I woke up. The power in the bathroom was gone and so was the door. For the first time in days I walked out of the bathroom and cabin to find the camp surrounded by campers sleeping everywhere. Everywhere I looked I saw familiar faces lying still. Suddenly I knew what had happened. I brought my hand to my mouth as tears started to form in my eyes.
What have I done? It blinked and then I gave into darkness until I had no memories of my friends or camp left.
