Slander in Amity Park

I woke up only for my intangibility to do the exact opposite of what I wanted it to do and made me fall through the couch. "Ow." I said, seeing that I was in complete darkness. I heard footsteps come from in front of me only to see Erin round the corner. "He's down here...and you might wanna take a look, like now." she said. The others came down and Robin turned on the light, which made me shield my face. "What's up, Erin? Woah." Robin said. He had that look on his face, the look he gets when he has bad news. "What is it now? I've been through enough to take a little bit of bad news." I said. "You're still in your wolf form. I'm honestly baffled." he said. "Robin, I'm going to have to resign from the Titans. I can't help you when I can't help myself. I'm getting too violent, too angry, and I think it's better if I don't end up hurting anyone." Without a final word I went upstairs, leaving the Titans alone in the basement.

"Did he say 'resign'? He can't! He's done so much for us, Danny." Beast Boy said. "I know BB, but between here and Amity Park, I think he's made up his mind." I said. The future versions of myself and Lyle were currently at the Center, same for the future Erin. "I think he's been through enough to not need to have to be on a team in a second location. I'm going to go talk to him, see if he's going to consider changing his mind."

"I'm not sure, Danny. I mean what about everyone at home?" I asked.
"They'll understand." he replied. "Oh so I miss school, miss prom, and my future with Erin never happens, this erasing the future me from existence? No thanks. I'd rather face a million Dash Baxters than have that happen. Tell Erin and the others I went home." I said. I flew away from Titans Tower without another word.

When I got home, I noticed a pile of newspapers at the door. I picked up the most recent one and looked at the bold headline: Ghosts attack Amity Park as Danny Phantom and Burst have yet to respond. Following paragraphs included citizens calling us "selfish cowards" and "unfit as superheroes". Something was wrong, the town turning on us. It wasn't right. I immediately got out my communicator and tried to reach Danny. Instead I got the future me. "Look, tell Danny to look at the Amity Park Gazette website. It's not good. Just tell him for me." I said as I hung up. Suddenly, I heard barking as a large dog ( I identified it as a Husky) came running towards me. It looked stressed. I checked it for a collar and got its owners: Michael and Thomas Nichols. "So they got a dog. It has a leash so it might be able to lead me to them." I grabbed the leash as the dog led me to what I hoped was their location.

Meanwhile, my future self was relaying the message I sent. "Selfish cowards and unfit as superheroes?" Danny asked. "I don't get it, whomever wrote that article must really hate us...wait, what's this?"
Danny zoomed in on the front page and got an author name. "Why am I not surprised?" The name in question was all the proof Danny needed. "Written by Valerie Grey. She hates Phantom, of course it's her. So in our absence something went wrong. I have to go back. Both Erin and I have to go back. I'm sorry everyone, but there are bigger problems at home." I said. "Don't worry, we have everything under control here. You go back." a voice said. "Oh, Terra, hi. Been a year but it seems like a lot longer." I said. She nodded in agreement. "I'm sorry that you have to go back. I was busy so I didn't get to see you. You'll be back, right?" she asked, her blue eyes shimmering. A girl's eyes can make you feel a lot of things. Right now I felt sad for not even noticing she was gone. "Yeah, we'll be back. But right now Danny, Erin and I have to get home." I said. "Alright. See you around I guess." she said.

"Oh one last thing, past me. It is important that for a gift you get Erin--" he whispered into my ear and handed me a check. "Night of the prom talk to Phil Scott. He'll know what the check means.  Also I left you a little something outside, to improve your social status, Dash won't touch you." he said. I gave him a thumbs up and said goodbye. I walked outside to see the best thing ever. Some gear from 4 centuries in the future. "None of it exists yet, so you're going to either hide it or say you're testing it. I recommend saying you're testing it. Anyway, see you, well me, in the future." he said. With that Danny, Erin and I went back to Amity Park.
