Chapter 2: making new friends

Parker's POV:
As i heard the bell ring, i headed off to my first class. I enter the classroom, and i sit down and face the teacher. To start off the day, my first class was History. To be honest, i don't really like History, it is interesting, but not my favorite. My favorite subject is Foreign languages. (A.N: idk if this goes for all high school subjects) I don't know why, but something about learning about new languages is the best thing; you learn new culture, language, traditions, and so on. I mean, in this school i'm labeled the "popular nerd" so i guess that's why.

When i was younger, my mom was a teacher that taught this exact subject when she taught students. We also traveled together to different countries, so i guess that's another bonus. From that day on, i always knew i was gonna forever love Foreign languages.

I sigh, and focus back on my classes. Our teacher, Mr. Lara, was first introducing themselves to us, but since i wasn't listening, all i heard was "I love history, i hope y'all try to have a good time in my class, and since we should all respect each other, for now, y'all can call me Jordyn, if y'all want, and i go by they/them." I smiled at that, and then something touched me.
I turned my head, and i see this girl staring at me, so i raised my eyebrow in confusion. She giggled, and said "Hi. My name is Avery. I hope we can be friends. Also since Mr. Lara included pronouns, i go by she/he. I hope you don't mind" She smiled.

I returned the smile, and said "Hey. My name is Parker, i would love to be friends; you seem nice. And my pronouns are They/he." i said.

We both smiled before we focused on the class. I already knew i would like this class, cause i made another new friend.

Class had ended, and me and Avery started talking more, to get to know each other more.
Suddenly, we heard a noise. At the same time, me and Avery looked at each other, before checking out the noise. And that's when i got a good clear look at the problem.

Some kid, who looked oddly familiar, was backed up in a corner, by a huger guy. Who i also knew. His name was Alec. His pronouns were He/them. I don't know what he was doing, so i decided to check it out.

I walked over, and he was hovered over some kid. I looked from them, to the kid hovered. And when i looked, it was the same kid that i ran into, that's why they looked familiar.

I tapped Alec on the shoulder, and he turned around. "What?" he asked. I looked at him, that expressed raise your voice down and relax, I guess he got the message, and backed up. I smile at them in approval. Then i looked back on the kid. "Are you lost?" I asked while looking at the kid.

The kid nodded and so then i asked "how did this situation happen and why was Alec hovering you?" He looked at Alec then me. "Um..cause..I was just..trying to find my way. I wasn't watching where i was going, so i bumped into this giant, and then i don't know..he hovered over me, looking at me with anger.." he trailed off. I sigh and looked at Alec "is this true Alec?" Alec nodded with his head down.

One thing before judging them, is that Alec isn't really a bad guy, he does have a temper, but with all his friends right there for him, he tries his best to calm down and not harm others. Alec just gets freaked out easily, so he will get scared, so it seems like he's angry, but once you get to know him, he's just a soft giant, he loves making new friends.

I walk up to Alec, "hey..it's alright. I'm not mad..okay..?" i said, giving them a smile. Alec looks up, and gives me a small smile and nods. "good. Just apologize to the kid, and you can head off to class, and i'll buy you lunch for doing a good job..ok?" Alec nodded again and walked up to the kid. "i'm sorry for getting mad at you..i didn't mean it. You just freaked me out..i'm really sorry.."

The kid looked up at me, then back to Alec. "it's okay, i forgive you." Alec smiled at him then me, and i returned the smile. "Good job Alec. I'll buy you whatever for lunch." Alec hugged me, before heading to his 2nd class. "thanks for forgiving them. Alec didn't mean to. He's a big softie once you get to know them." i laughed softly at that.

The kid nodded. "So what's your name, and..if you're comfortable enough, what's your pronouns?" I asked. "Peyton..and i go by he/him.."

"Nice to finally meet you Peyton." i give a smile. "i'm Parker, and i go by They/he." Peyton gave a small smile "i have a question.." he asked. "what's your question?". "how did you calm that giant down..?" I scoff. "that giants name is Alec, he goes by He/them, and that giant is one of my friends." Peyton made an "O" shape, before nodding in understanding. "do you want to be friends, since you're new..i want to help you around the school." I asked.

I guess that caught him off guard, cause he shot his head up and had wide eyes in surprised; before nodding hesitantly slowly. "sure.." he said slowly.

I smile proudly at myself, for making another new friend in a single day. I lead Peyton the way, so he can meet Avery.

When we discussed 2nd classes, i guess coincidently, we all had the same classes. I smile even more. I do notice i'm smiling a lot more...i guess this year will be a good year.

I sigh happily, before all 3 of us headed to the next class and sat next to each other. We talk a little before our next teacher walks in, introduces themselves, and starts class.
