Elle POV

Brrrrrrrr!

I rose from my bed with a start. I was woken up in the most rude way possible. Taking a deep breath, I calmed myself but somehow I still was feeling tired as if I hadn't been sleeping but had been very active through the night.

Feeling the empty space besides me on my bed, I slowly crept out of bed, a first glance to the coffee table, where there was nothing but my half-read book and the candle, my own shoes from last night by the door, no take-out food boxes or empty wine bottles. Nothing. Everything was blur. But, it had been a dream that felt so real.

As I sipped my water, and relaxed on the couch, I calmed myself  and tried hard to recollect what really happened last night. The last thing I was able to remember was texting Noah, waiting for his reply and nothing after. And then there was the dream.

"Starting with your phone will be good, Elle" I announced to nobody in particular. I found my phone under a layer of pillows and quilt on my bed and saw the barrage of notifications that were waiting to be attended to.

Lee - Have a great time buddy. I am so excited. Need all the details.

Rachel - I'm glad you two are speaking. Yayiee xoxo

Noah Flynn -

I was hoping so, Elle. I've missed you all these years and haven't forgotten you either.

I was hoping we can speak, may be in person? Was wondering if I can come over?

Elle?

I quickly dialed Lee to let him know I was alive.

"Where the hell have you been?" Lee yelled picking up on the first ring.

"Good morning to you too, my best friend. What's with these texts? What details do you want? I just passed out asa I got home last night." I yawned.

"Looks like someone kept you awake last night" I could hear him smirking through the speaker.

"Lee, are you day-drinking again? I love how you over-estimate my very non-existent social-life" I reprimanded him.

"Fine, fine. Fine with me, if you don't want to speak about it yet, its okay. But you've got to spill the beans at some point." he mumbled sounded dejected, confusing me, all the more. What was up?

"Good bye, Lee" And I disconnected the call.

Saturday morning. Early, very early. I would have to wait till 9 am to probably make a call to Noah, and so I decided to quickly get ready for the day. He had responded to my texts exactly the way I'd hoped and I couldn't help but mentally chide myself for last night.

"Arrgghhhh" I yelled frustrated.

****

I had called Noah several times already, but it went to voice mail.

My doorbell rang alarming me of the arrival of my breakfast delivery. Just as I was about to shut the door again,  I saw little pieces of paper stuck on my door.

Elle, sorry to land up like this. Guess you aren't home, call me when you see this. Thought I'll come over and surprise you, but never mind, some other time.
