Y/N awoke to the smell of bacon drifting into her bedroom and, despite having eaten a literal deer, she was starving.
"Morning, sleepyhead." Autiana greeted as Y/N entered the kitchen.
"Mornin', Ana." she replied.
Niko came up and greeted her, his tail wagging and he began sniffing her curiously. Obviously, the scent of deer still clung to her.
"Have a good night sleep?" Autiana asked. Y/N shrugged.
"Decent. Still adjusting to the time change as per usual."
"Gotcha, you hungry?"
"Starving."
Niko jumped up onto Y/N in an attempt to better smell the deer on her breath.
"Niko! Down!" Autiana ordered.
He returned to all fours and backed off.
"Sorry about that, Y/N, he must really like you." Autiana chuckled.
"Ah, it's no problem. I don't mind."
Y/N sat down at the kitchen island as Autiana set down a plate of bacon and eggs in front of her. Autiana sat down across from her with her own plate.
Y/N dug in, forcing herself to take time to chew before he swallowed.
"Damn, you sure you had supper last night?" Autiana asked, amused.
"Yeah, I did." Y/N replied. "I have a high metabolism..."
Autiana chuckled. "No shit."
Y/N shrugged and continued to heat, however, a piece of bacon caught in her throat and she began to choke.
"Woah! Y/N/N, you good?!" Autiana asked, jumping to her feet.
"No-not- *cough* Not... really-" Y/N managed to say between coughs and gags.
Autiana raced to Y/N's side of the table and performed the Heimlich Maneuver. She finally coughed up that damned piece of bacon, as well as a rather large piece of bone. She leaned against the counter and gasped for air. Autiana gave her a pat on the back and sure that she was okay before sitting back down. She looked at the bone that the girl had coughed up.
"Dude, how the hell did you manage to swallow a bone that size???" she marvelled.
"I-I don't know... must've been in the steak that I had last night..." Y/N replied, finally catching her breath.
"Yeah but... how???"
"I don't really pay that much attention when I eat... I just... eat." Y/N said. She knew where the bone was really from, but she wasn't about to let a Hunter find that out.
"Damn." Autiana remarked, even though she was pretty sure that most of the steaks he owned were boneless...

The rest of the day went on pretty normal. Y/N had lunch with a few friends that she had planned to visit while Autiana stayed at home. She got back at around 5 pm and she let herself into the house. Autiana was in the living room, taking a phone call, and the second the words 'wildlife reserve' drifted to her ears, she went to stand next to the doorway and quietly listen.
Thankfully, Y/N's hearing was quite a bit... better than most.
"So, the only evidence was the deer's corpse?" Autiana asked the caller. "At this point, yes." the caller replied. "Okay, I'll check it out tonight."
And they hung up. Y/N was in trouble now. She needed a place to transform and she needed a place with food. The wolf was a hungry one, and he didn't take kindly to being left without food. She figured that, because the wildlife reserve was as big as it was, she would probably be able to get away with transforming and spending the night there without running into Autiana.
She didn't know for sure, but all she could do was cross her fingers and hope that she'd make it through the night.
~~~
That night, Y/N had to climb through the window in order to sneak out because Autiana was still out and about. However, the window jammed and it took her a half hour to get it open. When she finally released it, she jumped from the window and booked it over the fence as fast as she could. She ran toward the reserve, not being able to pause and observe the beautiful night or enjoy it's silence, because that silence was broken by her quick footsteps on the cement sidewalk and her heavy breathing as she walked. She was halfway to the reserve when she felt that familiar feeling begin to well up in her chest again.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck..." she muttered.
She had no choice but to duck behind a row of dumpsters and brace herself as the transformation. She struggled with every fiber of her being not to scream and she managed to get away with only letting out a few yelps. She hoped that they wouldn't attract anyone's attention.
Finally, the transformation finished and she cowered behind the dumpster for as long as she could hold the beast back, but, of course, someone had to be going for a midnight stroll and every wolf instinct in her body kicked into high gear. She was starving, and needed to eat. She crept out from behind the dumpster and slowly stalked the poor unsuspecting woman for a few moments.
The sweet scent of her blood and flesh drifting over Y/N's scent glands, causing her mouth to water. She then let out a low growl to catch her attention. She whipped around, screamed in terror the second she saw her and then began running. The wonderful scent of fear pulsed from her and filled Y/N's body with adrenaline.
She gave chase but let her get slightly ahead of her, toying with her, giving her false hope. They approached the wildlife reserve.
"SIR! SIR, PLEASE HELP!!!" she shrieked to someone down the sidewalk.
She continued running as none other than Autiana leapt in front of Y/N.
Of course, Autiana had driven there in her car. She stopped in her tracks and let out a low growl. She slowly began circling Autiana. Autiana carefully pulled a gun out of her jacket and pointed it at Y/N.
"Calm down there." she said calmly.
There was still an underlying scent of fear, but Autiana had obviously been in this situation before. Y/N continued to circle Autiana, sizing her up, until she finally lunged at lightning speed. Autiana pulled the trigger and a silver bullet was fired into Y/N's stomach. She whined and raced away, too fast for Autiana to follow.
