The Match

"Jungkook! Come on we're going to be late."

Taehyung shouts from the living room where he waits for his fiancé. They have a tennis tournament to catch where they will be playing doubles. They aren't professional tennis players but they regularly play every weekend as they both love the sport.  Today is their company's inter-department sports meet and they were chosen to represent the advertising department.

"Okay, okay, I'm here babe!"

"What took you so long?"

"I couldn't find my lucky wrist bands!"

"It's okay, you don't need that cos you have me." With that, Jungkook pulls Taehyung in a bone-crushing hug and gives him a peck on the lips. "I know, right? You are my lucky charm, my Taebabe."

Tae gives Jungkook a short but passionate kiss. He then pulls away and the latter whines. Tae chuckles."We can continue this later. We gotta go."

Jungkook grabs both their tennis bags and the car keys as they both head to the car. It was just a 30-minute drive to the Hybe sports arena so they got there quickly.

When they arrived, they were looking for their team mates, but all they saw was their tennis coach.

"Coach Seojoon! Where's everyone else?"

"Well, Mark, Minho and Rose are running late and I'm afraid they won't make it on time as the first match starts in 5 minutes. First up for your division is the singles match and you and Tae are registered as doubles players. You have to forfeit this round as we have incomplete team members."

Jungkook was irritated as his competitive side couldn't take it.

"Where are they?!"

"They had a flat tire and Mark realized he had no spare tire with him."

"So, that's it? We forfeit?!" Taehyung said and sighed.

Not far from them, someone heard the entire conversation and decided to approach them.

"Hi, my name's Jin. I'm from the Entertainment department. Did I hear you right? You lack players?"

"Yes," the coach says, "three of our team members won't be able to make it on time."

"Oh, cos two of our members aren't here yet. And the doubles game is about to start in Court 2! I was wondering if you'd be open to join our team instead?"

"I think that's a good idea. There's nothing in the rules that says we can't merge two different departments as long as there's five players within a team. Kook, Tae, are you good with this?"

They looked at each other and both shrugged.

"I guess. We just wanna play" Tae says smiling at Jin "Hi, Im Kim Taehyung and this is my fiance Jeon Jungkook. We're from the Advertising department."

"Name's Kim Seokjin. Thanks for this guys. We were really looking forward to this. Let me call the rest of our team."

Jin runs off to his team members and after a few minutes came back.

"Jungkook, Taehyung, this is Hobi, Suga and Ji-Eun."

Jungkook looks at Ji-Eun and noticed how she blushed looking at him. Hobi notices too.

"Hi, I'm Hobi. I'm a photographer and a badass tennis player."

"Great! So, that means we have a big chance to win this then as Tae and I are probably as badass as you are," Jungkook's competitive self starting to show again.

"Ok guys, the matches are about to start. So, Hobi, who's your first bet for the singles match?" Seojoon asks.

"That would be me. Best to start strong!"

"Ok! Taekook go to Court 2 now, Hobi you're in Court 1."

The matches start. After an hour and a half, the games ended and the team won both matches.

The first three players were now at their bench area watching the ongoing match of Jin, while also waiting for the ladies match to start. Up next was Ji-Eun. Tae looked at her and noticed that she was fidgeting.

"Hey, Ji-Eun are you okay?"

"Yeah, Tae, thanks for asking. I'm just nervous that I would disappoint you guys and lose."

"Hey, it's okay. Just enjoy the game. I'm sure you'd do well." Tae gave her a reassuring smile.

"Thanks, Tae" with that she runs to the court as the ladies match was about to start.

The match begins and the team members on the bench were all nervously watching. But, after seeing how Ji-Eun played they knew that they would win.

Jungkook was watching her closely and blurted out, "What a backhand!"

Hobi chuckled,"Yeah! She's really good! She just needs to believe in herself more."

Ji-Eun won the round and she was ecstatic. She rushes to their bench and the first person to stand up and greet her was Jungkook.

"That was one hell of a game, Ji-Eun"

Ji-Eun turned red and shyly said, "Thanks Jungkook"

Did she just blush?  Tae caught the reaction, but shrugged it off.  Hobi noticed it too, and shook his head.

A few minutes later, he slowly dragged Ji-Eun away from the others.

"Ji-Eun, you'd better control yourself. Let me remind you that Jungkook's engaged and that his fiancé is here too. I know you like him, but please don't cause any trouble."

"I'm trying, Hobi, okay? Besides, I know that I'm no match for Taehyung."

"Good. Just be careful" J-Hope turned around and ran back to their bench leaving an embarassed Ji-Eun.

What they didn't know was that someone accidentally heard the entire conversation.
