CHAPTER 1
Zylah Deakin
"Uy Araia, kanina ka pa sa cellphone mo ah, may katext ka ba?" I playfully teased her, nudging her elbow as we walked down the street. She looked at me and frowned. "Anong katext? Nagbabasa lang ako sa Wattpad," she answered and returned her gaze on her phone.
"Ooooh anong story?" I asked, peeking into her phone. She looks at me again and turned her phone on my face. I read the title of the story that she was reading. Salamisim.
"Nakakakilig talaga, pero hindi ko alam kung sila ba ang magkakatuluyan sa huli," she said and pouted, feeling sad. "Awee, magkakatuluyan yan sigurado," I told her, turning my head back to our path, my hands resting on the back of my neck.
"Hopefully," she answered. We continued walking home. She was still reading but good thing she can still see what she was going through.
The sun was already setting and it's giving the sky a perfect orange color. "I had fun today, gawin ulit natin next time.. Bukas?" I stopped on my feet and pulled her back before hitting the pole. Naku, muntik na.
Napahinto naman siya sa pagbabasa at tumingin sa akin. She looked at me then turned her gaze to the pole. She repeatedly did it and suddenly she laughed making my eyes widen a little in surprise.
"HAHAHAHA muntik na ako doon ah. Anyways, oo naman, uulitin pa natin to," she replied. I was about to say something when she talked again. She looked at me.
"Have you ever wondered? Kung totoo ba na may fictional world? What if they are true? What if we can see them? Not in our imagination but in reality," she said as if she wanted that to happen.
My hand was still holding onto her shirt. I shifted my head to the ground after hearing what she said. I kept quiet. I did. I always imagined. I always wished Ethan was real. That if only he was mine in real life. "Zylah?" Araia suddenly broke my thoughts, getting my attention back to her.
"Ah! Yea,... Yes of course," I trailed on, letting go of her shirt, trying to hide the sadness I have in my eyes and continued walking.
I heard her sigh. I turned my gaze on her. Her attention was no longer on her phone..
"You know, you're not the only one. We both know that we want them to come true but that's impossible," she said and fixed the hair that was blocking her face. I can feel her sadness.
I gave her a small smile. "Pero sana nga, noh?" I breathed out, looking up at the sky. "Sana meron ngang lugar na.. Nag-eexist sila.."
I heard her let out a sigh once again and looked up at the sky too. "Sana nga."
We stopped as we reached our destination. Yes, we're neighbours. And we were friends ever since we were kids.
We looked at each other before entering our homes. "See you tomorrow," I smiled.
"See you tommorow," she said and waved her hands as she entered their house.
