"Hey kitten, what are you up to?" Adora asked Catra as she casually entered the cat girls room in the Bright Moon Castle.
"Adora I told you to stop calling me kitten a hundred times" Catra replied with a frown on her face but also blushing at the same time.
"Nah, I like saying you blush," the dark blonde haired girl giggled. Her giggle made Catra blush even more. She hid her face in her hands and groaned. "Ugh ok, what'd you ask again?"
"I asked what you were up to... kitten" Adora replied with a smirk.
Catra chose to ignore the last word of her question and showed the girl the red nail polish she was holding. "I decided to try a different colour other than black for my nails" she said.
" Ooh, fun! Can I paint them for you? " Adora asked with a shine visible in her eyes.
"Yeah, sure why not" was the answer she got so she smiled at the girl and picked up the nail polish from the ground.
She sat next to Catra and began painting her long nails. The couple started casually chatting and somehow a topic they usually don't bring up, their past, came up.
"I remember the day I found the sword," Adora sighed. "You thought that I had hit my head."
"Well of course I'd think that!" Catra protested. "Would you believe me if ı told you that I saw a glowing sword in the middle of the forest!"
Adora smiled. "Yeah, you're right. I wouldn't believe you either love"
Catra blushed once again. "Stop with the pet names Adora, please"
Adora fell into a fit of giggles but suddenly she stopped and her face fell down very noticeably so her girlfriend furrowed her eyebrows. "Dora, what's wrong? Are you feeling alright?"
The blue-eyed girl tried to act like nothing was wrong, and that she was all fine but Catra of course easily read through that lie.
Adora took in a deep breath and looked into the girl’s eyes. " Why didn't you just come with me Catra? Everything would've been so much easier," she whispered softly.
Catra looked at her, bewildered. She pulled her knees toward her head and hid her face in them.
" I don't know Adora, " she muttered. " It didn't feel like an option at the time. I felt like you had betrayed me and I was afraid of following you and you just leaving me...again. So I just pushed all of my feelings deep down and only focused on beating you at war. "
Adora sighed and scooted closer to Catra, pulling her into her arms. " It was a tough time for both of us, I know. It's okay though, we're okay now" she gently said.
Catra raised her head from her knees. " I'm so sorry -for everything- Adora. I should've just sucked it up and came with you.. or at least not try to destroy Etheria."
Adora threw her girlfriend a sad, crooked smile. " Hey, you already apologized a hundred times. But again, as I told you a hundred times, it's alright, I forgive you, the princesses forgive you. It's all good now, kitten. "
Catra returned the blue-eyed girl’s smile. She then buried her face into Adora's chest, still smiling. " I love you," she said.
Adora squeezed her tightly, " I love you too, and I always will. "
There was a moment of silence before Catra spoke up; " Promise ? "
The other girl fondly smiled at this question then nodded; " Promise. "
