Hey guys! Sorry this chapter is late, I've been busy with getting a new job for the meantime until I can enlist, my girlfriend and I also just got a new puppy so I'm busy training her so she can get potty trained and my girlfriend can take her to her house, because I really don't have the room for a husky and a german shepheard in my home.

Chapter 2

July 30th, 1942- Camp Taccoa, Georgia

Karson sat in his bunk, writing out a letter to his wife. He sighed as he thought about her and his family back home, frowning as he wrote.

My Dearest Lena,

I can't put into words how much I miss you, everyday I think about you. The boys here are just that, boys. I can't imagine all of them surviving this war and from what we've heard about the fighting over in Europe and the Pacific, we all are starting to come to terms with the fact that we might not make it home. Hell, our instructors here have informed us that before we even go to Jump School we're to make out a will; just in case we don't survive a jump. I've been promoted from Staff Sergeant to Technical Sergeant, meaning that when we go overseas I'll probably be promoted to First Sergeant of Fox Company. That's my unit. We're part of the 506th Paratrooper Infantry Regiment, F-Company or Fox Company. Our jobs will eventually be to jump behind enemy lines and try and flank the enemy from behind in order to provide our troops a clear path into France, hopefully leading them right into Germany and Berlin.

God I miss you, all of you. I miss sitting by the radio at night with Dad. I miss Mom's home cooking, the food in the Army tastes bland and horrible. I miss Alex picking fights with me, and I especially miss seeing you every day. I'm one of only a few guys here married and we all miss our wives terribly, Winn wanted to marry Ayla before he left but they didn't have any time. He's hoping that we get leave after Jump School to come home and visit, but it's unlikely that him and I will be able to get all the way back home since we live so far away. I'll be sure to send letters and presents.

With Love,

Karson

He sighed as he put his pencil down and grabbed an envelope, writing down the address information before sealing it up. He looked over at Winn who was just finishing up his own letter as he stood up. He walked over and held out his hand. "I can take that to the postmaster for you, you still need to get your weapon ready for inspection in an hour," he told him. Winn smiled and handed the letter to his friend.

"Thanks Karson, I appreciate it," he said. Karson smiled, taking both letters and putting them in his pocket.

"It's a sergeants job to take care of his company when the commander isn't here right?" he asked, making Winn chuckle.

"Just go get those sent back out to California and get back for inspection," he said. Karson smiled and made his way outside, looking around at all the different companies in various positions in the camp. He internally winced as he heard the high-pitched call of "Hi-oh Silver!" from Lieutenant Sobel of Easy Company.

"Well... Looks like Easy is running Curahee again, poor guys. Sobel's going to kill them before they even make it into battle," he thought as he walked into the post office. He smiled at the young man behind the counter. "So, what company is on postal duty today?" he asked him. The brunette behind the counter smiled.

"Dog Company sir, I'm Corporal Barry Allen," he introduced, holding out his hand. Karson smiled and shook his hand.

"Technical Sergeant Karson Danvers of Fox Company," he introduced himself, he chuckled. "You must be from somewhere near Kansas?" he asked. Barry smiled and nodded.
