~Marissa Sullivan~
I spend a lot of time around my family. When we're at home, no one is isolated in their room unless it's to study or something. Right now, I am sitting at the dining table, playing Speed with my older brother, Josh, and the twins, Asher and Mateo. My father is across from us, sitting on the couch and watching the news. My mother is behind us in the kitchen, making some preparations for dinner. I can hear the reporter on the TV, and my mother cutting tomatoes. The slap of cards from our card games and once in a while, one of the twins giggling.
The world has been kind to the Sullivan family. So far.
"How about the four of you go for a walk together before it gets too dark?" Mom suggests.
I nod. "Sure."
Mom gets Asher to help me put the cards away, and I set them on the coffee table.
My dad mutes the TV to talk to me. "Are you guys going on a walk, Rissi?" he asks, using my childhood nickname Joshua made up for me when 'Marissa' was too long a name for him to say.
"Yeah. With the twins as well," I reply.
Dad says, "make sure they don't run off."
"And be back in time for dinner!" Mom adds.
"I know, you don't have to tell me," I assure them.
"My only girl is so grown up," Dad says, patting me on the back.
"I'll be a legal adult in January," I remind him.
"Well, that makes me feel old."
Both dad and I have a chuckle.

"Ash, Matty, slow down," Josh tells the twins, who are running down the sidewalks, free from the restraints of our parents.
"These kids are annoying and insane," he whispers in my ear, sarcastically.
I get a bit of a laugh out of that, because it's true. Asher and Mateo are great kids, though.
Our sibling walks are peaceful overall, though, with the added bit of cheerfulness and craziness from the young twin boys. Such is life living with the Sullivans. Peaceful.

A/N: Hi! Sorry it's been so long since the last update, but here is the second chapter in Marissa's POV. I've been having a hard time finding her voice, which is why this chapter took so long to write. It's a bit shorter than the first chapter, but I think it shows the nature of Marissa, her household and her life properly. The chapters will start to get longer and more interesting after this one, so don't worry. I just wanted to give readers a glimpse of the nature of both the main characters at the start of the book to show how vastly different they are. Thanks for reading :)
