THIS CHAPTER MENTIONS SEXUAL ASSAULT
"So what do you want to do?" I ask Kara. My arm is wrapped around her and her head is on my chest.
"Nothing"
"Alright" She looks up at me and then gives me a kiss. She rotates to where shes sitting next to me, I pull her into another kiss but deeper. We start making out and I put my hands on her shirt trying to take it off but she stops me. We continue kissing and I try one more time to take her shirt off but she slaps my hand away.
"Is something wrong?"
"Its nothing"
"Are you sure?" I look at her worried, she smiles slightly and looks down.
"I said it's nothing" She gets out of the bed and walks toward the door.
"Where are you going?"
"Im just clearing my head" She leaves the room and shuts the door behind her, I follow her outside and to the patio where she is leaning against the railing. "Leave me alone Shawn"
"What did I do wrong?" I stop walking when I'm about 2 feet away from her.
"Nothing"
"There's clearly something bothering you"
"Do you really want to know?" There are tears slowly dripping down her cheeks and onto the railing.
"Yes"
"I was fucking sexually assaulted alright" Tears are now streaming down her cheeks as she collapses on to the concrete and is now sobbing. I run over to her and wrap my arms around her.
"I'm right here just let it all out"
"I was only 12" She gets out between the sobs, I hold her tightly as her body shakes in my arms, I rub her back which begins to soothe her.
"I'm not going to leave you. If you want to talk about it you can but I'm not forcing you to" Her sobbing stops and she's now trying to catch her breath.
"My oldest cousin did it. He was staying over at my house with my older brother and I was asleep and he came in and locked the door and pulled my blankets down and then he pulled my shorts down and then while he did it I acted like I was asleep and I heard him say I know you aren't asleep don't say anything if you do I'll kill your parents and after he left I cried silently and never told anyone besides you" Kara starts crying in my arms again, I hold her tightly again and don't let go until she stops crying.
"Can I ask you how many times he did it?"
"4 times"
"Im so sorry" I give her a kiss on the head and continue holding her. "Lets get you inside" I help her up and let her lean on me as we walk inside, I place her down on the couch and give her a kiss. I walk into the master bedroom and start running a bath, I pour some bubble bath and epsom salt into the bath I place some candles on the bathroom counter and light them. I walk back into my room and pick out a big hoodie and some of my shorts, I place them in a neat pile on the toilet seat along with a clean towel. I walk out into the living room and see Kara laying on the couch, "Kara"
"Yea Shawn?"
"I ran you a bath in my bathroom, I left you some clean clothes too. You can even lock the door I just want you to feel safe"
"Thank you Shawn" She gets up and gives me a kiss,Kara walks down the hall and in to my bedroom, I faintly hear the door lock click a moment later. I walk into the kitchen and write her a note before leaving my apartment. I drive around near my apartment and pick up various types of fast food, I head back to my apartment and place out the array of Chinese, Japanese and Italian food on my coffee table. When I'm done setting it up I feel two arms wrap around my waist.
