Jeongguk was sitting on his throne, high and tall as he looked down at the girls that was a "sacrifice" for him.
One of his hands tucked under his chin while the other rested on his knees, with his posture slug and bored. The look on his face was expressionless as his eyes stared into nothingness. His mind wanders off to a daydream, a dream that he held onto.
To be honest, he does not want anyone to be a sacrifice at all. Everyone deserves a good family with a good husband, but not with Jeongguk. All the girls were lively, beautiful, nice and very sweet, only that they were not attractive to him. He just does not find them attractive at all.
He sighed once more, then switched hands to lean on as the other rested on his lap now. He made a promise to himself that once he found the one, he would send all of these daughters home immediately. He would not let them be here when he already had someone. Unless they refused, of course.
The only reason why he asked for all these girls, not because he wanted to do something bad to them.
He simply just wanted a wife. He has lived for a very long time that he started to get lonely. He was craving for someone and that special feeling that was named "love".
He has been looking for that specific someone for a very long time now. He has visited his parents, but they had none that he liked.
He moved and visited the place over time for years until he met one of his friends, Kim Namjoon, another great dragon king, with his beautiful significant other, Kim Seokjin, who was a human.
At first, he thought it was impossible, but Namjoon told him that the idea of marrying humans was not that bad. Besides, humans and dragons can get along pretty well, as long as there is peace.
Jeongguk thought that it was ridiculous, but after exploring all over the world, humans were the only choice left. Then, as he was roaming around, aimlessly, he came across a small town.
He truly thinks that the town was cursed for sure, for having such a horrible disease. He took this opportunity to help them in exchange for their daughters. He did not tell them why, of course, but he really regretted not telling them why.
Every year on the first day of spring, the town has to send him a girl. They had to be 18 to 25 years of age. A virgin that no one had deflower yet. A pretty one with a beautiful smile. Someone that could just approach him and say, "I'm willing to be your wife".
Even that was hard.
For the sound of being a sacrifice does not sound very good. No one wanted to be a sacrifice. Therefore, it was very hard for the young girls and ladies to volunteer.
Now, Jeongguk could only look at the women roaming around his kingdom as if they owned them. Which they technically do.
"Your majesty," said one of them, "it's time."
Jeongguk got down from his throne and went to her so she could fix the cloak on him. He was a tall man, who was almost 6ft tall. Every time his ladies came and fixed the cloak on him, he had to bend down or they had to use a chair.
"That's plenty, I shall be going now."
Jeongguk didn't glance at her before he made his way out of the palace to the immortal world.
Jeongguk got out of the water with his cloak still hanging on his shoulders as it should. He was partially soaked, but not much. His dragon makes sure to take care of that for him. He wouldn't want to meet his future wife with his clothes and hair drenched with water.
