Birds started chirping as soon as the sun rose, a faint fragrance of new blossoms filling the air. It rained last night, the sound of honeyed raindrops had drummed on the windows as it velvety caressed the soil and leaves while the moisturized air welcomed the break of dawn.
But the peaceful morning was interrupted by a loud clattering sound that jerked jungkook from his tranquil sleep.
'What the fuck!' were the first three words jungkook spoke that morning, eyes struggling to adjust to the harsh light as he hurriedly walked towards the source of sound.
He gasped seeing a pane of the window broken, the glass pieces lying on the tiled floor. But what caught the man's eyes was a white paper ball lying alongside the shattered fragments.
Jungkook carefully picked it up and unwrapped the paper, realising that it was wrapped in a stone, the reason why his window broke.
He immediately looked outside the window and saw a man in black hoodie clumsily climbing the fence.
"Hey, stop!" He shouted, and the man glanced at him in a swift motion before falling down harshly.
'Will you be my plus one for the prom?' The paper read, causing Jungkook's eyes to widen as he rushed down the stairs.
He never expected someone would want to be his partner for the dance. He doesn't blame anyone, it's just him who is too introverted to ask anyone for anything, even a pen in case he forgets his own, so the point of asking someone was yeeted out of the window.
He noticed footprints in the mud as he walked towards the fence, hoping for the mystery man to be there; fortunately, he did. There laid taehyung, the boy jungkook never expected to see at his doorstep, well, technically under the fence.
"Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" Jungkook frantically walked towards Taehyung who was groaning in pain, wet mud sticking to his clothes.
"My knee hurts," the brown head cried, clutching his knee to lessen the pain.
Jungkook saw the scraped knee and gasped audibly, bending down to pick taehyung up, who yelped as his hands fled to his neck.
"What are you doing Jeon?" Taehyung screeched.
"Um....I can't leave you in pain like that, it's rude."
"Never thought you could talk," Taehyung teased through the pain.
Jungkook rolled his eyes, "Never thought you'd throw an offer to me by breaking my furniture," he muttered, seeing taehyung's face to redden. He sits him down on the couch and leaves to get a first aid box.
"It'll hurt a bit," Jungkook says before applying the disinfectant on the wounded skin while Taehyung winces loudly. After properly applying the ointment, Jungkook offered water to Taehyung, and quickly slipped away to brush his teeth, and make himself look a bit presentable.
It was no secret that Jungkook fancied taehyung. Despite being the 'mousy guy' of the class he lacked being discreet with his stares, which everyone has been noticing since the beginning of high school; so did Taehyung.
Soon enough, awkward eye contacts, incomplete 'uhs' and 'ums' filled the silent room.
"Um....I'm sorry for showing up so randomly," Taehyung broke the silence, eyes fixed on his lap.
"No, not at all, it's okay," Jungkook immediately replied.
"Yeah. I-I didn't really mean to....um....break your window," Taehyung sighed loudly, eyes tightly shut as he still looked at the floor.
"Oh, well....t-that's okay, I guess." Jungkook stammered.
"Uh, do you really wanna go to the prom, w-with me?" Jungkook said after a while, heart thudding in his chest.
"Jungkook, actually...." he sighed, finally looking at the raven head. "I-I don't mean to hurt you but....I was dared to do what I did. All my friends know that you kinda like me, so— I'm sorry." Taehyung felt immense guilt seeing the shine of Jungkook's eyes disappear.
"Oh....um that's okay," jungkook flashed a small smile towards the brown head, who only replied with a grim smile.
"I should leave, I'm getting late. Hope to see you at the prom." Taehyung abruptly stood up, slightly wincing.
"Oh....um, sure."
Jungkook sighed after closing the door, of course no one would want to go to the prom with him.

Taehyung saw Jungkook sitting in the corner.
It was the awaited prom night, and rather than being mesmerised while dancing with his partner, his gaze was focused on the man he possibly broke the heart of.
Jungkook sat alone, with an untouched wine glass in his hand. This was probably the first time he noticed how handsome the raven head was, clad in the black fitted suit with a fancy bow tie, classy black shoes complimenting his outfit.
Taehyung was sure he could've been the highlight of the night if he danced. Hell, he could've been the prom king. Sighing for the nth time that night, he excused from his friend's group and walked towards the raven.
"Hey jungkook! Can I sit here?" Taehyung asked with a warm smile.
"Oh hey! And.... you don't have to miss the fun for me." Jungkook smiled.
Taehyung frowned, "why will I miss the fun?"
"Prolly 'cuz I'm no fun." The raven shrugged, making Taehyung's eyes shine with regret. Damn, only if he swallowed his pride and didn't give into that insensitive dare.
"That's not true. Nevermind, will you dance with me, please?" Taehyung pouted and Jungkook's eyes widened.
"B-but you already have a partner."
"Oh, don't worry, he's my partner 'cuz his girlfriend ditched him." Taehyung smiled seeing jungkook chuckle.
"So, will you be my partner for tonight, for real this time?" Jungkook blushes, slightly nodding as he holds taehyung's hand.
They swayed holding onto each other, blushing madly and sharing sweet nothings. Although Taehyung regretted pranking Jungkook, he surely didn't regret the outcome.
"I'll pay for your window soon," taehyung jokes, eyes locked with jungkook.
"I'll be waiting," Jungkook chuckles, dancing along to the sweet melody.
