It's been a week since the almost rape incident and noone spoke of it again because I would continuously have nightmares about it. Sometimes I'd same up still feeling him on me.

Carlo was really worried about me and spent all the nights cuddled up with me. I slept better like that.

I still hadn't called my mom so I planned on doing it before going to uni today. Carlo had already left bacause he had a morning exam so I was hone alone. My classes started at noon.

I dialed my mom's number and it got answered after two rings.

"Hello," a tiny voice answered. "My mommys not home call back later kay."

I laughed hard at that one.

'Raine!? Raine that you?" My sister's tiny 2 year old voice asked, excitement evident in her voice.

"You bet." I answered.

She squealed and I imagined her jumping up and down like she always did when she was happy.

"I'm so mad at you. You didn't call to talk to me for so long and I thought you didn't love me anymore." I heard her sniff.

"Oh my little Ray of sunshine why would you ever think of that."

"Do you still love me," she asked in a tiny voice laced with uncertainty.

"Sunshine I'll always love you to the end of the world. I love you more than I love my sprinkles in my milkshake."

She squealed again "fear not Raine my beloved sister I now know you do for your wuv of sprinkles...."

She was practicing her British accent  on me. I chuckled. Never gets old.

"I bought you a birthday present for your 21 birthday you're coming back home right."

"I'll always come back to you," I promised

"Listen Ray, I gotta go. Pass my love to mom ok. I love you always."

"I love you more, you're my role model, I love how you kick ass." She mumbled the last part.

"Heyy language," I heard giggles as she cut off the phone. Smartass, she knew she'd get a scolding. Since she turned two she had the habit to catch in swears anyone threw. So far ass was her favourite word and she made sure she wouldn't pass a day without saying it. Never gets old.

I took a bath and hurried off to my class. As usual the day was rushed and I barely got enough time to do my assignments.

I was getting groceries this week so after my classes I went to the nearest grocery store. Unfortunately they didn't have all the things on my list so I left for the main stores.

It was getting pretty dark when I was on my way back home. Carlo had called at least twice.

I rang his phone and he answered immediately " where on earth are you Raine, I called you twice and you did not answer worry laced his voice."

"Well hello to you too my sweet room mate," I chuckled.

"Come on Raine where are you," he grumbled.

"Calm your tits Carlo," I laughed "I'm just coming from the grocery store nothing to be worried about."

"Uhh hello I have everything to be worried about it's already dark I'm coming to get you."

I hesitated, the last time I refused him I almost got hurt so I was definitely not taking any chances now.

I sighed deeply,"Sure you can come, I'm almost by our block near that dark all"ey.

"Ok thanks," he sighed in relief, "Don't just don't wander off okay" he laughed "I'm coming. Oh and Raine I love you."

"Love you too Carlo." He hung up.

I walked slowly now knowing Carlo was on my way. I passed the dark alley when I heard a woman's  scream. My heart thundered in my chest as fear crept up my entire body.

No this can't be happening I should just walk and forget about this. I didn't hear anything. I6ll tell Marco. I told myself. I lifted my foot to walk but I found myself rooted to the spot, I couldn't leave her like that. I had been in the same situation and I was lucky someone had saved me but she probably had noone.

I was going to be her hero.

Dumb.

That's the word I'd use to describe myself as I wandered deep into the dark alley. I could barely see anything.
