Our Last Kiss

When I wake up from surgery, I'm in a room with Cadhla. This must be the private suite that I've ordered. Lilah and Ian are sitting with their backs to me next to Cadhla.

"She's still not waking up Ian. What are we going to do if we lose her? I can't bear to lose her." I hear Lilah whisper, her voice hoarse from the crying.

"We're not going to lose her Lilah. Everything is going to be okay. Lars has had the best doctors in the world flown in to take care of our girl. I'm so thankful that she's found someone that loves her as much as we do." I hear Ian kiss Lilah, and she sniffles.

I feel a bit uncomfortable listening in to their conversation, so, I pretend that I'm just waking up and start to moan a little bit.

"Lars?" Lilah says as she turns and takes my hand. "We're here in the suite with Cadhla. You came out of surgery just fine. They put a rod in your leg to help your femur stay steady so it can heal. How are you feeling?"

"Like I've been hit by a truck!" I say. Everyone is quiet for a few moments and then Ian starts to laugh, followed by Lilah. They are both laughing in hysterics when I finally realize what I said and join in as well. Peter walks in and stops in the doorway.

"Did everyone get into the laughing gas?" he says sarcastically, which only makes us laugh harder.

"Lars woke up, and Lilah asked him how he was feeling and he said he felt like he had been hit by a truck!" Ian says. Peter looks from Ian then to Lilah, and then to me as it finally sinks in and finally starts to laugh.

"Is this a bad time?" the doctor peeks around the corner and smiles. Lilah and Ian both stop laughing.

"How's our girl?" Peter asks. The doctor gives a small smile.

"She's doing well, other than still being in a coma. I'm Cadhla's new doctor, Dr. Gary Ramos." the doctor gives us all another small smile. We all look at each other nervously.

"So, what is it that you're not telling us Doc?"

"Well, we're concerned that she may have a brain injury, but we'll know more when she wakes up. It could be very mild, or it could be very severe, making it almost impossible for her to form memories and retain information in the future. There are some therapies that we can discuss when the time comes." I could see the worry in the doctors eyes. This was a lot of pressure for him working on the future Queen of Liechtenstein. This could potentially make or break his career.

"Doc? Please just ensure that she wakes up." I called. "I will make sure that you are well compensated for your time, and even if we need to keep you on as our personal doctor, I will make sure that the world knows that you helped bring Cadhla back to me." I called. He looked at me and nodded his head.

"I can't promise anything to you Prince Phillip, but, please know that we are doing our absolute best to make sure that Miss Evans has a complete recovery." he states.

"Thank you doctor." I murmur solemnly. I want to scream at him. I want to grab him by the throat and tell him that his best isn't good enough, that Cadhla is my entire world and I may actually die if anything happens to her, but I know I can't. There is enough pressure on him already, and I know that now the paparazzi know that I'm here, me manhandling a doctor would surely make it on TMZ somehow.

We all try to relax and wait for Cadhla to wake up. I have some food delivered for all of us so that I don't have to eat bland hospital food and read the news. Peter, Ian, and Lilah watch some TV, and there is a lot of chatter about Cadhla and myself being in the accident.

"Lars, are you okay?" a familiar voice comes from the doorway. Peter jumps from his chair and bows.

"Mother." I smile "Please come in and meet Ian and Lilah, Cadhla's parents. Ian and Lilah, please let me introduce to your Princess consort Marie Phillip of Lichtenstein. I would stand, but since I have a broken leg, I hope you will forgive me mother." Both Ian and Lilah stand awkwardly.
