A day at school
The gates opened to Lelegarde's School for the Gifted and me and Bee walked in for our first day teaching. We taught different subjects but the different blocks were pretty close.
We were both concerned about what the kids would be like and whether or not we would be respected, but we were willing to earn it.
We parted ways so we could prepare. As it was only our first day we were to be watching classes that we would be taking over. I checked my hair in the mirror and headed into the first classroom. "We've got some time until the kids get in." A deep voice came from behind the desk "We can discuss any of your concerns. I'm Mx. Harley." I froze for a second, surprised that it wasn't going to end up being some bigoted school with stuck up kids, maybe it won't be so bad? "Oh, yeah, sorry I'm Mr Alexander." I smiled awkwardly. "I was sort of worried that the kids would be kind of disrespectful? I know that my old class wasn't all too good with..like..LGBTQ+ things?" I raised the question rather hesitantly. They chuckled, sighing, "Oh don't worry dear, they're very open and we even have the students pronouns on the system." The words made me burst out in a smile.
Before I could respond a shorter kid with short messy black hair burst in, breathing heavily. "Kris, did you run here?" Mx Harley asked, with a hint of concern. Kris messily nodded and set their things down, "heard there was a new teacher and I wanted to meet 'em" They mumbled, wandering over and sticking out a hand. "Kris Ivy, nice to meet you.."
"Alexander- Mr Alexander. Nice to meet you Kris. I look forward to teaching your class."An hour later me and Bee held a rendezvous in the English teachers lounge. It was empty so I was free to practically tackle him into the wall with a hug. We pulled away and shouted "They aren't dicks!" In unison, before realising we had said the same thing and falling into a fit of giggles.
At the end of the day we went home, with a positive outlook on how our future would unfold.
I launched myself onto the sofa and sighed in relief. Bee shuffled onto the small space that I hadn't taken up, laughing at how excited I was. I sat up and tackled him against the back of the sofa, squeezing as tight as I could without hurting him. I kissed his nose and admired them for a second. "I'm so lucky oh my god." I muttered, before diving in to kiss him.
We ended up falling asleep on the sofa, pretty much in the same position with Steven Universe on in the background.
Thankfully, we didn't have to go to work the next day.
