Joanna
The moment I arrived, I was in awe. The stage was huge!
"You good?" Julie bumped my shoulder.
"Yeah." I whispered.
"Good, now, let's get you dressed and ready." Flynn grinned as we walked over to my dressing room.
"Wow." Step aside, ACDC, I'm Back in Awe.
"You get dressed, and I'm gonna got talk to Brendon Urie." Flynn grinned before she jumped out.
"Here's your dress." She said before I walked into the bathroom to get changed."Hey, Jules, can you button me?" I asked as she came over. I pulled my hair to the side as she buttoned the back of the dress up, and fluffed my hair before we walked over to the couch.
"I hope the boys get here soon." She sighed as I nodded. I mean, I could do it on my own if they were- I stopped that thought, playing with my necklace, trying to distract myself from the fear and anxiety churing in my stomach, making me want to throw up.
"Everything will be fine. They'll be here." I tried as she took my hand and Flynn came in telling us how she had sushi with Panic! Before the stage hand, Rob called for me.
"Hey, Joanna. You're on." As soon as he said that, I was crying once more, flying out the door and into the alley.
"Please, daddy. Give me strength, I feel as if all mine is gone. Please watch over the boys, keep them out of trouble. I really miss all of you." I pleaded as a lady walked towards me with a dahlia in her hand, stretched out for me to grab. She patted my shoulder with a gentle smile before walking away. I walked back in with a new found determination and paused when I got next to Flynn, Julie, and Rob. "Signs." I said, before walking past them and into the stage.
"Welcome to Live at the Orpheum. Now give it up, for Julie and the Phantoms!" The announcer said as everyone cheered.
"Hi." I said, grabbing the microphone. "Tonight I would like to dedicate this song to my family. Both sides of it. My adoptive family and my birth family. Thank you for always being there for me. I'd also like to dedicate this song, to three special friends who have changed my life completely, who have brought music back into my life. It was their dream to play here, this is for them. This song is for anyone who's list their way. Step into your greatness. Don't give up. Stand Tall. Thank you." I said before putting the mic back and repositioning myself at the piano, taking in a deep breath before placing my fingers down on the keys and I started to sing.
The moment Alex came in, I grinned. Then Reggie came in with bass and then Luke tried coming in, but kept glitching until his part of the song.
I shared the mic with Luke until they all joined me at the end of the stage, bowing, before they poofed away, probably for good. The moment it was over, Ray took us back home, and all I wanted to do was go into the studio and sleep.
"You and your Phantoms were unbelievable tonight. You know I'd like to thank them for bringing music back into your lives." Ray said to Julie and me.
"We already did. But we didn't thank you, Pape." I smiled as Ray grinned. That was the first time I didn't call him Ray. I gave Carlos my flower before Julie and I hugged him.
"Hey Julie, Joanna, can I talk to you guys?" Carlos asked.
"Yeah, sure, just give me a minute." I smiled before walking towards the studio and shutting the doors behind me.
"I- I know I already said this, but... thank you guys." I whispered into the darkness.
"You're welcome. Reggie's voice sounded as I turned on the lights seeing them all on the floor.
"Why are you all here? I thought-?" I started before their jolts cut me off. "I thought you crossed over? Why didn't you cross over?"
"I guess playing the Orpheum wasn't our unfinished business." Alex said as he lifted himself into a sitting position.
"Point Caleb." Reggie groaned.
"We wanted you to think we crossed over, so we pretended to. We just- we had nowhere else to go." Luke mumbled.
"We thought you'd go straight to bed." Reggie added.
"Well, I knew she'd come in here, but nobody ever listens to-" Alex started before getting jolted again.
"You have to save yourselves, right now. Go join Caleb's club. Please! It's better then not existing at all! Please just go! Poof out! Do something! Please, do it for me." I was just about into hysterics at this moment until Luke grabbed my hand.
"We're not going back there." Reggie said.
"No music is worth making, Joanna, if we're not making it with you. No regrets." Luke whispered as he pulled me into a hug.
"I love you guys." I whispered, holding onto him tighter, before planting a kiss on his cheek. He started glowing.
"What's happening?" I asked as I pulled away, placing my hands on his face, him doing the same, brushing away my tears with the soft pads of his thumbs.
"I don't know... but, I feel stronger." He looked back at the boys.
"Alex, Reggie come." I said as they walked over to me, I kissed both of their cheeks and hugged them.
"Woah, I don't feel as weak anymore." Reggie smiled.
"Yeah, me either." Alex whispered. As the stamps on their wrists started glowing and removed themselves from them.
"What do you think that means?" I asked.
"I think the band's back." Luke grinned.
"You guys think we could try that hug thing one more time?" Alex asked as I pulled them back into the group hug.
"I like this." Reggie laughed once we pulled back, only to come back together.
"Me too." I laughed.
That night, we all slept in my bed and I can't say that I've ever had as good a night's sleep as that one.The next morning I stayed in bed for a while until noon rolled around and I finally got up, and got dressed in some leggings and an overly large hoodie.
I walked over to the house, just as the doorbell rang.
"I got it!" I called before opening the door to reveal someone I never wanted to see again."Mother?"
