Whitsbury Manor Stud is a quiet stud farm home to some of Britain's most successful racehorses.

James Rush is fifteen and has a soft spot for horses. After insisting on finding a part-time job to earn himself a little extra pocket money he notices the jockeys from the Stud training their stunning young Thoroughbreds for the races. Not wanting to appear acquisitive, James spends time up at the training arenas each day hoping for someone to acknowledge him.

When his chance finally arrives and he is offered the job as a stable hand, looking after and caring for the horses, he wilfully accepts to the suggestion. He isn't payed much and the jockeys don't aprove of him but for James, it doesn't matter. Horses come before anything else.

However, James has a special gift with horses and soon finds out after his encounter with a beautiful bay stallion. The stallion has a wild temperament and just when the people at Whitsbury Manor Stud are beginning to debate whether he can be trained in time for one of Australia's most famous races, the King's Stand Stakes, that's when James must show them he isn't worthless.
