1×17 "Let The Right One In"

Mystic Falls

"Do we have to do this? We've been here all day," Charlotte complained as she sat in a hospital chair, a needle stuck in her arm drawing blood. Liz gave her a pointed look, "you know we do," she said, her hand resting on Charlie's thigh who rolled her eyes. She hated this, sitting here for almost an hour while they run their stupid tests.

She couldn't even do anything, just sit there. Thankfully she had Liz to keep her entertained, "guess what," Charlotte said to distract herself from current state she was in.

"What?" Liz nodded at her, knowing Charlotte was going to gossip with her about, "when I collected Care yesterday I walked in on Kelly and Damon, almost doing it on the stairs," she smirked. Liz didn't like Kelly either, having the same opinion as Charlotte on her so it didn't surprise her what Charlie said, however it surprised her that Damon would do it.

"I thought Damon liked you," she stated to which her second daughter chuckled, "don't know but I mean Kelly? He could have done a lot better, however..., I believe Kelly did it on purpose."

"To get back at you?" Liz instantly caught on and Charlotte nodded, "as I was sitting there Damon came over and I warned him about her, only a minute later she came and threw herself at him. She told him how much she missed him," she began to explain.

The sheriff had to admit it that it sounded like she did it on purpose, "with Kelly you never know," she agreed. "I bet it won't take long until she pulls some shit again," Charlotte grinned at Liz who laughed, "as long as I don't have to arrest her, more work for me," "good point," she said with a nod.

"Oh, and on that double date? Elena started talking about her relationship with Matt, who then dropped a bomb when he said it wasn't hard to make out in a sports car," she recalled the events of the previous night.

"Didn't her dad have that old Camaro?" Liz asked to make sure, she couldn't believe Elena sometimes. She had known the girl for ages and thought of her as a sweet, caring and young woman. A good friend, but recently more often than not Elena annoyed her dearly.

As Liz wanted to add something, doctor Evans entered the room with an unreadable expression. He sat down in a chair near them, flipping a few pages on his clipboard, "Charlotte, the tests came back with unexpected results," his voice was heavy with guilt.

Charlotte's expression was empty, this couldn't be happening. "Your condition became worse, we don't know how but looking at you vital as of this moment..., it's not a matter of age anymore, it's a matter of years," he looked at her with empathy as if it was his fault.
