"Her nudes?"
"Yep, posted her nudes. Kylie is saying Kendrick did it."
It was so difficult to wrap my head around it. "But why? I thought Kendrick was such a nice guy?"
"Well, she did cheat on him. And as she told everyone, she tried to break up but he wasn't having it."
The cafeteria is at a full-time buzz. Mondays were always crowded. Though I didn't like being subjected to loud hollering and the chittering, I have somehow grown very fond of my college. Far better than the deafening silence of my hometown.
But this wasn't nice. One of my friends having her nudes all over the internet wasn't nice.
The entire school had seen it. She hadn't come to class for a week because of the shame. But something just wasn't right about this.
"I heard the football team isn't taking it well at all. Yesterday someone saw Levi shout at the principal." Alissa goes on.
Pippy leans forward. "Of course they won't like it. Kendrick is Levi's best friend." Without wasting another breath, she adds, "Don't you think he looks so hot when he's mad?"
"God, Pippy! Not the time." Alissa swats her but we all know she has a huge thing for Levi. But we also know that he isn't into her by long shot. Doesn't make her give up, though.
None of us were happy with Kylie cheating on her boyfriend. In fact, we never expected her to, knowing what an amazing guy Kendrick was. At least we thought he was. Nothing excusing leaking nudes of a girl and marring her reputation forever.
"I'm just saying! I heard him yelling at his coach earlier."
Levi was by no means not attractive. But I've always had a pretty strong conviction about famous hot boys - they have the personality of a 15-year old's caption. That did nothing to change the fact that he was one of the most beautiful guys my college has ever seen. His black curly hair was never out of place, his piercing dark eyes always trained at things like he was thinking about things he shouldn't be thinking about.
And most importantly, his lips were always pink and full as if he freshly sent a girl to heaven.
I've always found his irresistible, but I'll never admit it. Especially after out encounter last year.
I was with Josh. He was the captain of their biggest rival. Though no one really knows what went down between us, the entire team has always looked at me with disdain. Especially after he broke one of our player's jaw unprovoked. They lost the season because of his injury.
They still blame me, I know. I don't care. I can't let myself care.
I had foolishly expected them to be okay with me after Kylie and Kendrick began dating, but even he kept a distance from me.
The entire cafeteria falls quiet, and from the corner of my eye I see the unthinkable. Levi and some of his team was heading right for our table.
I turn my eyes to my half-eaten food and pray to God they don't say anything. Thankfully, they settle into the table beside ours without a word. Kendrick was with them.
My heart wrenches at Kendrick's bloodshot eyes. I quickly kill it. He deserves this shit. Even though the pictures he leaked didn't show too much, the girl's future was marred with this now.
"Oh my God, what are they doing here?" Pippy whispers.
My eyes track over everyone, heads down and mouths grim. Something's happened. Curious to know, I let my eyes linger for a moment longer until they fall on Levi. His floppy curls look like he'd run his hands through it way too many times, eyes tired and hooded.
I ignore the clenching in my stomach, unable to look away. His mouth is drawn into a tight line and he's angrily mumbling something when he decides to look up.
His mouth rounds on an unsaid word as our eyes collide. My breath lodges in my throat, and the anger in his eyes starts a tremble in my hands.
He stands, looking directly at me. "What the fuck are you looking at?"
My mouth opens with a blazing retort, but Pippy stands up with her mouth twisted. "Let's get out of here."
Levi and I don't break eye contact, but as Pippy pulls us out of our seats, I level him with one single glare before walking out.

By the time I made it for track, my coach's eyes were scanning the boys on the field with a grim eyes. I followed his gaze but as soon as I saw the one I didn't want to see, I did my prep and got ready to run my anger away.
I push myself until my thighs are burning, but I swear I felt his eyes on me the entire time I was on the track.
Without another look towards the growing cluster of the players, I go to hit the showers. Running always made things go away. I liked to imagine my sadness going away with as I sweat. So on bad days, I would push myself too much.
But I'd be too tired or too much in pain to let my chest hurt.
I heard footsteps approaching when I reach the washroom. I walk inside, thinking it's my friend, Willow. But when I'm inside and splashing water on my face, I see the imposing figure of Levi standing just behind me.
My ego doesn't let me flinch or back away, but the tremble in my hands returns.
His eyes are cold and mouth bordering on a scowl. My heart thunders at the sight.
"You have a lot of nerve to come out to the field after what that bitch did." His voice is low.
I turn to him, knowing how stark my messy hair and wet face looks against his perfection. "No one asked him to leak her nudes. But let me guess. He didn't do it, right?"
His nose flares and he steps way too close to me. I back away until my back hits the sink and I eye the door.
He gives a taunting, soulless laugh. "Is that what you really think happened?"
Levi's arms brace the counter on either sides of my hips. My breathing turn erratic, though I try my best to mask it. He's a whole head taller than me, if not more. I don't stand a chance against him.
"Why are you all up in my face?" I tip my head back to meet his eyes.
"Why," He drawls, voice bland and distant. "Are you scared of me?"
When I'm silent, he flicks his tongue over the side of his teeth and it turns me on so much I frown. But I quickly use it for my advantage. "What will you do? Hurt me? I'd love to see how long your captaincy lasts after that."
He laughs again. It's a harsh, delicious sound that makes my stomach ripple in anticipation. "I don't know if you're brave or stupid."
"And I don't know if I'm going to have to punch the lights out of you or kick you in the balls to get you out of my way." I say, half expecting my life to end right there. But the flare in his eyes is a cross between anger and something else.
He backs away, chin high but eyes low and full of intention. I see him heading to the door and a part of me relaxes. The other part of me has the audacity to feel disappointed.
But he doesn't leave. Hell no. He locks the door.
"No." I jump into motion, eyes wide with panic. "No. No. NO. I'm not getting in trouble-"
He grips my neck and pushes me into the side of a stall. The breath whooshes out of me and I keep my eyes tightly shut as I feel his forehead against mine.
"Here's what you're going to do. You're going to tell your friend to stop lying and get her shit together. I'm not losing my boy from the team just because a bitch wants some attention." He whispers viciously into my face.
