If We Make It to the End

The Party

Smoky atmosphere, dimmed lights, and a noisy environment. A place Sunghoon never thought he'd find himself at. To be honest he would rather stay in his dorm and enjoy the alone time he has before his roommate arrives.

But then again, not everything we want we will get.

He was on his way home when another student approached him to ask for directions. Not only that, he also insisted for Sunghoon to join the party as everyone will be there and that the campus dorms are haunted so Sunghoon will be in danger.

He was very reluctant at first, but he agreed later on just to stop the other from annoying him. Now, his inner introvert self is screaming. Louder than the music.

"I'm Sunoo!" The other person said loudly in order for the other to hear. Sunghoon just looked at him and nodded. Then it is silence between them again.

Sunghoon looked down at the drink in his hand, he was about to drink it when Sunoo spoke again.

"Aren't you gonna tell me your name?" Sunghoon sighed, and looked at Sunoo.

"I'm Sunghoon." He replied rather quietly. Sunoo knitted his eyebrows and mouthed 'what' to the other.

Sunghoon doesn't know what to do, he couldn't bring himself to speak louder as he feared getting unwanted attention from everyone else. Sunoo senses this, thankfully, and took the other boy's arm. Sunghoon debated or not to pull away, he decided not to.

He sank in shame when Sunoo pulled him upstairs and the people in that hallway thought they're gonna do something naughty. Sneering and shouting teases. Sunghoon felt tears in his eyes forming. He felt he was being bullied, mainly by Sunoo.

Sunoo only stopped walking when they reached a part of the sorority house that is quiet. It looks like a mini library, this room doesn't have a door meaning Sunoo won't do naughty things to him, not that he is wishing it rather he is afraid. But still he felt attacked so tears fell instantly when he sat at the floor.

This shocked Sunoo, so much that he ran to the other boy to comfort him. Only to be met with Sunghoon's cries.

"Don't touch me you Jerk!" Sunoo quickly retracts his hands from touching the other. He slumped his head down and walked across the room, he sat down and sighed.

"You called me jerk." Sunoo stated. This fuels Sunghoon's anger.

"It's only fitting for bullies like you!" Sunoo's eyes bulged out.

"Bully?! I am not a bully. I didn't even hurt you." He defended.

"Yes you did. You embarrassed me in front many people. What if some of them will be my classmate? They're gonna think I'm a slut." Somehow, Sunghoon manages to say loudly.

"I'm confused, why would they think of that?" Sunghoon rolled his eyes. Is this for real?

"You pulled me upstairs at a party, everyone in the hall saw and cheered for us to break the bed."

Sunoo let out an 'oh' as he only realized his actions now.

"I'm sorry" He rose up from his seat and sat near Sunghoon. He already stopped crying, but still, he looked sad and angry. "I didn't thought of that, I only wanted to know your name. I can't hear it earlier and I sensed you don't talk loud so I just moved us to a quieter place."

Sunghoon nodded. He understood Sunoo, he chose to forgive the other's reckless action as it is accidental. He sensed sincerity in his voice and worry in his eyes, that is why he trust this guy.

"It's fine, just don't do it again." Sunghoon told the other calmly. "My name is Sunghoon by the way."

They looked at each other and the smiled. It took a couple of seconds before Sunoo replied.

"Yeah. I promise."

Then it went silent again, but this time it is less awkward.

Sunoo's eyes scanned around the room, He saw some cards sitting at the top of the shelf. He saw this as a great way to entertain the both of them and become friends.

He stood up and reached for it, a booklet fell down when he pulled it down.

"What's that?" Sunghoon asked Sunoo as he picked up the booklet and waited for the other to sit down again.

"It's tarot cards, I thought they are playing cards what a bummer." Sunoo complained as he sits down. He suddenly thought of an idea.

"Hey do you wanna know your future?" He asked Sunghoon in a comedic tone, making them both laugh.

"Sure." Sunghoon answered laughing.

They opened the booklet, it was the instruction manual for the tarot cards.

"Shuffle the cards and let your intuition tell you when to stop." Sunoo read cheerfully and proceed to shuffle the cards while Sunghoon happily waits.

"Next spread the card and let someone pick three cards randomly. So, Sunghoon pick three." He instructed Sunghoon, to which the other obliged.

Sunoo revealed the cards afterwards and shown that Sunghoon has picked knight of cups, The lovers and death. Fear struck them both as the last card is revealed.

"What the fuck?" Sunghoon cursed. "Am I gonna die?" He asked Sunoo, panic crept up into their heads.

"Uhhhh, let's look." Sunoo forced a smile.

"So the knight of cups signifies a love interest coming into your life soon." Sunoo read from the book. "Then the lovers depicts soulmates, I think that the cards are telling us that the person of your dreams will soon come." Sunoo happily told Sunghoon.

Pessimistically the other replied. "Then I'll die?" Which brought panic back to Sunoo's face. If Sunghoon indeed dies later it will be his fault.

He quickly flipped the pages until he found the description. He sighed, a sigh of relief.

"No, it actually means change." He smiled to Sunghoon, both of them calmed down and laugh.

"Maybe, if we connect these three cards. The universe is telling you that this particular soulmate of yours will bring a great change in your life." Sunoo concluded, Sunghoon clapped.

"That is the most bullshit thing I have heard in my life." Sunghoon laughed, followed by the other's 'me too' and laughter.

"I don't believe in fate to be honest, everything we have is because of our own doings and goals." Sunghoon explained.

Sunoo agreed and then returned the cards back to the shelf.

"So does this mean you forgive me?" Sunoo asked with puppy eyes.

"How can I say no to that face, of course." Sunghoon answered, then asked "Friends?"

"Friends."
