Chapter 3

POV-Amber

As I sit in the interns lounge my pagers goes off rushing to the the ER I see a guy my age being pulled out the ambulance .I made my way to the bed in which the paramedics placed him and watched as the trauma surgeons and nurses attended to him. While I gathered his information from the paramedics the mention that it was a car incident and the impact was very big they mentioned he had a helmet. I mentally rolled my eyes "another wanna be racer "I thought to me self .After doing the standard checks they requested I accompanied him to get an x-ray and MRI. While waiting for the elevator I realized his eyes were closed. Finally the elevator doors open and I push the gurney and pressed 5 level (the floor ) I look down at my notes again "Lando "I said .I jumped when I heard a voice say "Is this heaven ".He's awake I thought to myself .

No your at St. Leslie hospital glancing my notes again I continue Mr. Norris you were in a car accident do you remember that. Yes he replies. I then explain to him that we are on the way to take x-rays and a MRI scan to rule out any brain injury and broken bones. He nods. The elevator doors open at level 5 and I push his gurney to the MRI room where the technician assists me in getting him ready .After a few minute the technician tells me the scans are clear and give me the results to give the attending physician. On the way to X-ray he breaks the silence asking "aren't you a little young to be a doctor" I'm not a doctor yet ,just a 3rd year med student". After finally getting the X-rays results .I handed off Lando to the nurses and reported to his attending physician who reviewed both scans and decided it would be best to keep him over night .As I was about to walk away I hear Dr.Francis  (attending physician ) say he's requested you be the one who monitors him .My eyes widens as I turn to face Dr.Francis me ?! why me I ask "no Idea" she says but he's a VIP patient and his request does not contradict any hospital rules ,however Amber he is still a patient I hope I will not have to school you on ethics. Of course not Dr.Francis I reply making my way to the VIP wing .

As I walked I wondered why would he request me and why is he a VIP patient. I opened his door to find him asleep. I stood there just looking at his face he is handsome and his hair is brown and curly. My stare is broken when he says to take a picture it lasts longer. Embarrassed I quickly turn my face towards his monitors and begin writing down the data.
