"Hey babe, wanna hang out tonight?" Calum leaned forward and whispered in my ear. We were in the middle of History class so naturally, we weren't paying attention. Of course my brain still collected all of the information, that's how I kept straight A's and my good girl act.
Oh yeah, I'm Natalie Porter, but just call me Nat. And Calum, he's my amazing, hot boyfriend who is like me.
Seemingly the perfect child, but actually not."Sure." I breathed. He kissed my neck softly. I smiled and looked at my desk. Calum leaned back in his chair and stared at me.
I wrote down the topic of our studies on my paper, I would look up the rest online later.
When school was over Calum handed me a note and went to his bus. I started walking home. As I walked I opened the note. It said:
Meet me at the wall after dinner tonight, love ya babe. xxI smiled as folded the note back up. "The wall" was the seawall. A few blocks away from my house, right behind his, is a seawall. We hang out there a lot. We just don't go in the water during high-tide.
I walked in the door and everyone greeted me, well, everyone except my siblings that is. My sisters despised me because they knew that I was our father's favourite.
I smiled and went to my room to put things down. I pulled up Internet links to all my school topics and left.
"What's for dinner tonight?" I asked, hopping over the last step.
"Oh, we're having chicken and vegetables." my mum answered, as she walked back into the kitchen.
"Again?" I sighed. We had been having chicken for a week now. And only because my mom loved to experiment with new recipes. Last week was different kinds of pasta, which wasn't bad, but the chicken was always dry, so I got tired of it easily.
"Yes, again." my mom said. "And if you have a problem with that then you can go hungry."
I rolled my eyes and sat down on the couch. I got on Twitter and saw that I was mentioned in a comment by one of Calum's friends, Luke.
He was talking about a party I was planning on going to this weekend. I quickly turned off my phone and put it away. That tweet could have damaged my entire act. Hopefully my family didn't find it.
"Dinner!" My mom called from the kitchen. I got up and walked to the dining room.
My sister Susan was on her phone. "What's this party that Luke is talking about Nat? He tagged you in it." she piped up.
Crap, I forgot she had a crush on him.
"Oh just a casual, get together, birthday party kind of thing. You weren't invited." I answered quickly. I gulped and felt a wave of guilt wash over me.
"Why? Who's birthday is it?" She asked, her eyes narrowed.
I felt trapped, but I kept my face neutral. "Just, you know, one of Calum's friends." I lied. It was nobody's birthday, but I had to make something up.
"Which friend?" She asked. She raised an eyebrow. She was trying to get me in trouble now.
"Michael." I blurted quickly. Wait a second, his birthday's a month away, does she know that?
"His birthday's a month away Nat, what are you hiding?" Crap, she knew.
"Nothing." All eyes were fixed on me now. "It's an early birthday party. That's all. I don't know why it's so early, it just is."
"When were you planning on asking us about this party?" My mom piped up.
"Tomorrow morning." I told her. True enough, I would've made something better up then.
