Chapter XI

"I hate this feeling of familiar presence." Mikey whispered while still staring coldly on you, "Have I met you before?"

You didn't reply to the three men beside you. You are fascinated with how Mikey looks like Izana. It shows how much he values Izana and you're glad because of that.

Mikey is always like that after all. He may not show it explicitly but he values the people around him so much.

Draken and Takemitchi's eyes widened upon seeing Mikey. You know that they both want to save Mikey as well. They might think that this is an opportunity for them to talk to Mikey but you know it isn't.

"What are you doing here?" Leon, whose face is filled with bruises because of you, meddled as he went towards Mikey, "You are not invited to this party at all."

Mikey's eyes hold no emotion as he blankly and boredly stares at Leon, "I'm not talking to you."

Before anyone notices, a loud blag and bone cracking is heard, as Leon falls on the ground— deeply unconscious and non-functional because of Sano Manjiro. Man, he's critical.

Mikey looked back in your direction, "Have I met you before?" He repeated.

You calmly sigh as you take step closer to Mikey. He is just calmly standing there as well while waiting for you to get in front of him.

As you take a step towards him, your heart starts beating fast. It's not because of fear but because of anticipation. You love being near to him, although you know you deserve it at all. You haven't saved him yet. You're nothing but an unworthy human being.

But instead of stopping in front of him, you continued walking. You feel the time turn in a slow motion as you continue walking. You step and step until you're closer to him, closer and closer, until your shoulders pass each other. You can feel your heart beat increasing as the second passes by.

"Probably." You whispered softly, and you know that only Mikey hears it. You want Mikey to be the only one to hear it.

You walk past him and stop when the both of you are facing your backs on each other. You smile despite the mask on your face.

"I know you didn't come here to fight, Sano Manjiro," You started in a calm, firm, and dominating voice, "It's nice meeting all of you— Bonten, Brahman, and Leepon Fang."

"We will settle this, Phoenixes." Tiger from Leepon Fang gritted, "Next month. Same time and place. We will end this."

Your eyes turn serious underneath your mask, "Pleasure."

Shinichiro, Baji, and Izana walked towards you as they ignored Mikey. But you know, they want to see him as well. Mikey surprisingly didn't react at all. He's just standing there calmly.
