My head was pounding when I was startled awake on Saturday morning. Even without drinking the night before, I could still hear a ringing behind my ears from the thumping bass, and the clanking around in the bathroom was not helping my situation.

As I sat up, rubbing my eyes, I noticed a tremendous suitcase on Erin’s bed, filled with miscellaneous items. Clothes were strewn all over the floor, and a box was taped up by the door. Erin was dragging another box along the floor, scraping it along the tiles before hauling it into our bedroom.

“What the fuck are you doing, dude?” I asked, yawning and rubbing my eye. She glared at me from her place on the floor, and continued to throw her belongings off her shelf and into the box.

“I’m going home. I don’t want anything to do with any of the people here,” She spoke in a mumble through gritted teeth. “Not you, not the boys, nobody. You’re all assholes.”

I furrowed my brow in utter confusion. “Excuse me?” I questioned. “I’m the asshole?”

She looked back at me as she grabbed a roll of packing tape from her bed, peeling off a strip and cutting it with her teeth. “Yes, Meg, you’re an asshole. You brought the boys to that party. Luke and I would be fine if it wasn’t for you and your fucking stupidity.”

I shook my head in disbelief, unable to comprehend the harsh words spilling from her lips. I swung my legs out from under my duvet, hauling on my Ugg boots and a hoodie over my pyjamas.

“You know what? I’m done with your bullshit, Erin,” I spat, grabbing my phone and chucking it into the pocket of my trackies. “You broke Luke’s heart and for that, I’ll never forgive you. He’s one of my best friends, and because of you he’s broken.”

She shook her head, smiling and giggling slightly as she took the last of her clothes from the drawers and began throwing them into her suitcase.

“Do you think I care?” she laughed. “I’ve never loved Luke. He was a good fuck, that’s it. I got bored of his whinging about his issues and needed someone fun; that’s why I started hooking up with Logan,” she smirked as she zipped up her suitcase, dragging it onto the floor.

I could feel the tears brimming in my eyes as she spoke. Her words cut me deep to my core, but I knew that when Luke found out, he would be even more crushed than he already was.

“You’re disgusting,” I hissed, grabbing the doorhandle and swinging it open with so much force that it hit Erin’s bedside table, causing a thunderous bang and making her jump backwards. “Don’t you ever, ever come back here. I want nothing to do with you, understand?”

She shrugged her shoulders, her shit-eating grin still plastered over her face. “Fuck you,” I snapped, before walking out into the hall and slamming the door behind me.
