"Ah, shoot. I missed."
"Missed? What?" Pan clutches his chest, feigning surprise. "You? Not you. Not the Eros. Not the god of love, himself?"
"Would you hush up?"
Pan chuckles. "Ah, I kid," he sighs with a shake of his head. "Who were you aiming for, anyway?"
"The blonde," I grunt.
"With that thing in his lip? The freakishly tall one."
"Yes, him."
"Well?"
"Well, what?"
"Well? Well, who'd you hit instead?"
__
It's February.
The snow is still falling.
And love is still in the air.
"Hey, you."
"Someone's smiling," Mila grins, as Michael slides into the seat Zoe typically occupies during their art class. "You never smile in this class. It's like, a general rule. You don't smile in art."
Michael shrugs. "Fuck you, I like art."
Mila laughs, loud and hard. "Since when?"
Michael only stares back at her, eyes lidded. He doesn't respond. She knows the answer, already.
"What're you doing after this?"
"Well," Mila sighs, "I've got a ton of homework to do, tonight..."
Michael rolls his eyes.
She grins, "But my boyfriend kinda invited me over, so," she shrugs, "sorry. I'm kinda busy."
"What?" He clutches his chest. "You mean your boyfriend is more important to you than work? What? How? Has Hell frozen over? Hell froze. Pigs are flying."
"You're so weird."
"But, it's turning you on. I'm turning you on?" He leans in for a quick kiss. "Thought so."
Mila grabs the front of his shirt. "Shut up," she exclaims, pulling him against her so she can kiss him back.
And they're like, full on making-out as their classmates trickle into the class and they wait for their teacher and people are staring and smiling and laughing and Mila can't hear any of it and Michael actually just doesn't even care.
They were dating, weren't they?
Yeah. So everyone else could fuck off.
And when they finally pull apart Michael's got a smirk on his face and Mila's trying to catch her breath and Calum snorts loudly.
"Thought you guys were gonna die without oxygen for a sec, there," he smirks, and Michael flips him off.
Mila shrugs. "What?" She asks. "He's a good kisser."
"Thanks, babe."
"Ugh, shut up with the love, already," Zoe exclaims, hand on her hip as she takes in Michael sitting again in her seat. "It's bad enough this weekend is Valentine's Day. I don't need you two fucking things up for me and my loneliness even more."
Ashton sits up. "You don't have plans this weekend?"
Zoe shakes her head, slipping between him and Calum in Michael's seat that he no longer sits in, anymore. "Unfortunately not, bub."
"Well..." He gulps, rubbing the back of his neck. He giggles nervously. "I mean, if you don't have plans..."
"Which I don't."
"Neither do I," he says quickly. "I don't either, so like..."
"You guys should be lonely together," Mila adds quickly, and Zoe groans because she notices her fingers intertwined with Michael's between their stools. "Y'know, since I'm fucking up your loneliness."
"Yeah," Ashton says. "I mean, if that's cool with you and--"
"Aw, Ash," Zoe grins politely. "That's so sweet, but--" and her eyes flicker to Luke, who's just entered the class late.
"She'd love to," Mila says quickly.
Zoe shoots her a glare. "I would?"
"She would," Mila says, grinning at Ashton.
"I mean, you don't have to if you don't wan--"
"I--" And Zoe turns from Ashton to Luke, who is staring between them.
"What'd I miss?" He exclaims. "I miss all the good stuff."
Michael nods. "Luke misses all the good stuff."
"Ashton's asked ZoZo to be his Valentine," Calum nods, folding his arms across his broad chest. "Didn't miss much, mate."
"Oh my god, you guys are so frustrating," Zoe exclaims, and she glares at Mila. "You included."
Michael nods. "She's one of us, now."
Zoe sighs as Mila fights a laugh. "I'm sorry, Ash," she says.
"Yeah," he chuckles softly, eyes everywhere but her. "Was kind of a stupid idea, anyway--"
"No, no, no," Zoe shakes her head. "No, I mean, I'm sorry they're such idiots."
Luke pouts. "I'm not an idiot."
Michael shrugs. "Y'kind of are, mate."
"Shut up, Mikey--"
"It's like they're in middle school," Zoe groans. "Anyway, the answer is yes. Yes, I'd..." She spares a quick look towards Luke. "I'd love to go out with you."
She smiles, and Mila is smiling and Michael is rolling his eyes and Calum is faking a gag.
"Sounds like a plan, y'know? You and me--"
"Yeah," Ashton's mouth tugs into a grin. "Lonely together."
______
"Noooo. No. Does this mean--?"
"We're staying?" I tug my cousin's arm. "That we are, Pan. That we are."
