Hmm, what should I make today? Curry? Chicken wings?

The ringing of twin bells could be heard as I walked down the streets. My eyes sparkled as I saw a young boy with pretty hair color. He was currently admiring the display of the new Tamagotchi design. On his back was a child who looked no older than two and another child beside him, I assumed was four years old.

"Hello! You are all awfully young to be walking around here. Where are your parents?"

I crouched low enough to appear approachable and gave them a smile. The boy gripped the young girl's hand tighter and tugged her to stand behind him. He narrowed his eyes at me. And calmly said,

"Our father is dead. Mother is working."

I blinked twice before standing at your full height, which isn't much to say the least.

"Oh, is that so? Are you guys hungry?

He then glared at me harshly and took a step backwards, seemingly preparing to run if need be. I gave them another smile and then pointed at the nearest fast food chain, which was McDonald's.

"You must be hungry by now. I'll treat you guys while you wait for your mom. I'm pretty sure that even if you know how to cook, watching over two little ones can be tiring. I promise I won't do anything bad, I just want to treat you to some food. Besides, you look like you could use a break."

Once I reasoned with him, he seemed to weighing the pros and cons of the situation but it was disturbed by the hungry growl of his sister's stomach.

"Alright lady, lead the way."

I took the child off his back and carried her in my arms as I waited for him to grab hold of my other hand. He took it reluctantly and fell into step with me. I looked down to see the faintest of blushing on the tip of his ears. I took a stop at a convenience store to purchase some formula for the baby before continuing on to the restaurant. As we took a seat with our orders, I quickly added the formula with warm water and shook the bottle I also bought before feeding the baby. I took a glance at the boy guiding his sister how to eat properly.

"My name is Yui by the way. Matsumoto Yui. It's nice to meet you."

It seems like I caught him off guard with my introduction as he quickly chewed through his food and swallowed. He steeled his resolve and proudly stated,

"I'm Takashi Mitsuya! These are my sisters Luna and Mana."

He looked awfully cute with crumbs on his chin and sauce on his cheek. Looking more closely, you noticed that his clothes were thin and worn, the same could be said with the clothes on his sisters. But his fingernails were clean and his hair was combed all though not well. You made a wild guess on his family's financial status. Your heart throbbed in your chest.
