Kira
"What about him?" Eliana pointed to a random guy who looked half my age
"No"
"Him?"
"Eliana, stop asking me. It's not happening." I sighed
"Come on," she pleaded, "you're so boring"
"No, stop."
"Why?"
"I'm getting some air" I rolled my eyes, walking through the door.
I hated these community parties. I'd always had to attend them, and they were quite possibly one of the biggest wastes of time you could ever come across. The warm January air was bothering me but that wasn't going away any time soon.
I heard footsteps on the quiet path, and I froze, looking around."Hello?" I asked quietly into the darkness.
"Over here, beautiful" a deep voice answered
I turned to see a tall, dark figure leaning against the wall a couple of yards down.
"What're you doing back here?" He asked, moving from his stationary position."Taking a break" I breathed, wondering if I was going to get kidnapped.
"Mhmm, right."
"Why do you care?" I asked, on edge.
"Oh, I don't. I was just curious" he prompted
"Who are you?" I asked, trying to squint in the darkness.
"Why do you care?" He mocked me.
I rolled my eyes and pushed off the wall, realising that I'd have to walk past him anyway.
"Well, you're obviously new here. It's a pretty small town and I don't remember there being anyone as arrogant as you"
"At least you're right about one thing." He rolled his eyes, "the name's Rome"
"Cool, I'm Kira. Goodbye," I said smugly, deciding to walk around the long way.

"Where've you been?" Elle said, running up to me.
"Getting air?" I suggested
"Was the air in here not good enough for you?" She asked, sarcasm dripping from her words.
"Yeah. I like the premium type. At least someone understands" I laughed.
"Anyway, we're about to have dinner. You need to get seated." She pulled my arm towards the ballroom.
Tables were set out around the big room, that people were swarming to, frantically finding their seats amid the crowd.
We found our seats together and waited for people to start talking."Can I just get everyone's attention quickly?" The mayor said through a microphone.
"I'd like to welcome you all back to yet another event at the town hall, it's lovely to see everyone again." He smiled
"As some of you may have realised, there are some new faces around and I welcome those of you to our town. And finally, dinner will be served shortly, thankyou"
"I haven't noticed anyone new, have you?" Elle asked, scanning the room.
"Yeah, the mayor's new wife." I nodded.
"Yeah, haven't gotten around to talking to her yet. Kind of avoiding it." She said, scrolling through her phone
"He's staring at you," Gia said, sitting down at the table.
