It was a fairly gloomy Saturday afternoon with the sun fully hidden from view by the thick rain clouds and Dahyun breathed in the quiet atmosphere of the library she's currently in has to offer. Among her part-time jobs, being a librarian of the local library is her favorite, this is the only time Dahyun can truly take a breather from her chaotic life and where she could enjoy the peace and quiet with books as her loyal companions. The silence might be a bother to some but to her, silence is a respite.
After the busy week she had, Dahyun could really use a break, and what better way than to simply hide in the quiet company of books.
Although, the city seems to be enclosed in a bubble of dark, grey, and thick clouds that had blanketed the skies above for an entire week now. Normally, Dahyun has no problems with this type of weather, she loved the rain but something's kind of ominous today that Dahyun couldn't wrap around her head.
She shook her head while mumbling to herself, "Maybe I'm just tired."
"You sure do look like it."
Dahyun jumped in surprise at the sudden intrusion in her silent corner of the library. She turned around to see Nayeon leaning against a bookshelf, one hand holding a paper bag while the other is typing rather rapidly at her phone.
"What're you doing here, Unnie?" Dahyun sighed as she glanced at Nayeon who immediately took the free seat in front of Dahyun, "You always insist on having a lazy lie in every weekend."
"Do I need a reason to visit my friend?" Nayeon replied giving Dahyun her best pout.
"In this gloomy weather? I'm surprised you're not buried under your pillows at this moment," Dahyun rolled her eyes, "What do you have in that bag anyway?"
"I got you lunch," Nayeon grinned paired with an exaggerated flourish.
Dahyun raised a brow in suspicion, "Thank you, but why exactly are you doing this, Unnie?"
Nayeon pursed her lips in contemplation, she could just say she's bored and Dahyun wouldn't question it anymore but she figured a little honesty wouldn't hurt and so she spoke, "I'm worried, that's all."
Dahyun looked at the older woman before her with a skeptical look, "Worried about what?"
"About you, dumbass," Nayeon rolled her eyes while poking Dahyun on the forehead, "You're overworking yourself again, how many jobs do you have now hmm? Three? Five?"
"Four," Dahyun mumbled and she shrinked when Nayeon just raised an eyebrow at her.
"See?" Nayeon gestured wildly as she sits up to lean closer to the younger girl, "You look like you'd drop dead any second now, are you sleeping well? Do you even have time to sleep? What with all the jobs and studying you're juggling in between, I'm surprised you're still a fully functional human being at this point."
Dahyun shrugged, "It is what it is, unnie. I'm not just doing this for myself, you know."
Nayeon pursed her lips but thankfully remained silent as she let Dahyun eat in peace. Looking at her friend, Dahyun hid a small smile when she saw genuine care and concern on Nayeon's gaze. She knew that she's pushing herself too hard but there simply isn't any option in where Dahyun could solve all her problems just by a simple snap of a finger. She's grateful for Nayeon's friendship, the older woman is the closest connection she has to having a social life, Nayeon know of her struggles, she may not always understand some of Dahyun's reasons and decisions, she never left and instead stood by Dahyun's side especially when things get rough like a silent and unwavering rock that Dahyun can lean on whenever she needed to.
Nayeon blew an exasperated sigh, looking quite resigned when faced by her friend's stubbornness, "Well, you know you could always come to me if you need anything, right?
