Chapter Forty-One

Dabi and Shoto glared at Hawks. Aizawa nudged Hawks forward before approaching you. Hawks spoke. "Before you get mad, I was never working for him or helping him. It was all a ploy." You looked at Dabi in confusion. "Dabi, what is he talking about?" Dabi rolled his eyes. "That doctor was the spy and he took our sons to that flaming garbage. Hawks killed the doctor." You hesitated. "And what about...Endeavor?" Aizawa spoke up from next to you. "You no longer have to worry about him. He's been taken into custody under charges of kidnapping, abuse, murder, and conspiring to kidnap." The twins got passed back to you, and Dabi holds them close, in a hug. After a few hours, you got discharged from the hospital and everyone headed back to the base. Everyone sat in the living room with you. You looked around for a moment before pausing. "Where are Nyx and Apollo?"

Aizawa sighed. "They came with us to save the twins. They mauled Endeavor and Nyx was thrown into a wall." Dabi turned to him. "Is she alright?" He nodded. "She was taken to an emergency vet for a few broken ribs and a fractured paw, but they said she'd be fine. Apollo is fine, but he refused to leave Nyx." You sighed in relief. "I'm glad they're ok." You were interrupted by the twins crying. You looked at Rei and gestured to the small blanket. "Could you put that over my shoulders, please?" Rei nodded. "Of course, dear." Rei put the blanket over your shoulders, covering your front. You moved your shirt out of the way and started to feed the twins. You looked at Dabi. "Can you hold Kazue? It's hard to hold him with one arm." He nodded. "I got it." Rei smiled. "Look at you two. Naturals already."

After the twins finished eating, they started cooing for attention. Everyone took turns holding the babies and they ended up in Aizawa and Rei's arms. Dabi turned on the tv and it displayed a new channel. A reporter was speaking.

"A shocking story today! Pro hero Endeavor has been arrested and is facing multiple counts of kidnapping, abuse, and conspiracy. Should he be found guilty, he will face a number of years behind bars."

Dabi chuckled dryly. "He had it coming. If they put him in Tartarus, he'll be dead within a week. Good riddance." To take everyone's mind off of that, you brought up the wedding. "Now that the twins are here, we can finish our plans for the wedding. I'd say we wait three months to have the wedding, so that the twins can grow and develop. We'll go dress shopping during those three months and the boys can go tux shopping." Toga grinned widely. "Yay! I finally have someone to do make up on!" Aizawa looked at you. "I'll take the boys tux shopping to avoid any problems. Eri can get a dress with you girls." You nodded. "Sounds good." For the next few hours, everyone talked about the future wedding and the babies. They occasionally checked the news reports as well. As the day turned to night, everyone started to split up and Hawks and Aizawa headed home. You and Dabi took the sleeping twins up to the nursery and placed them in the cribs. The mobiles bathed the room in a dim, gentle light. They quietly left the nursery and went to their own room. The two of you changed into your night clothes and got into bed. Dabi held you close. The two of you began to talk quietly. You sighed. "The doctor said they'd most likely be born with their quirks, but they haven't shown any signs." Dabi held you close. "Doctors aren't always right, princess. They could show their quirks any day now. Just give it some time." You nuzzled into him. "I know. I just don't want it to happen when we're not around because it might scare them." Dabi chuckled. "If they have my fire, we'll know. Trust me. You'll hear the smoke alarms. Before I was using fire, I could only make smoke." You quietly giggled. "My quirk manifested when I was 6. I ended up making a kid in my kindergarten class cry and wet his pants because I didn't know how to control it."

Dabi rose a brow. "Really? When mine manifested, I set off the smoke alarms in the house and everyone thought there was fire. They hosed me down outside before letting back inside." Eventually, the two of you fell asleep in each other's arms. You both slept peacefully, knowing nothing could harm your family anymore.

A few hours later, you woke up to the twins crying and a rapid beeping noise. You sat up and listened to the beeping noise before realizing what it was. You shook Dabi's shoulder. "Wake up! The smoke alarms are going off!" You rushed to the nursery to check on the twins. You opened the door and hurried to the cribs. One of the edges of Touya's crib was singed as if it had been burnt. A corner of Kazue's crib looked to be covered in some kind of frostbite. Kazue cried harder, which resulted in the frostbite spreading on the wood of the crib. Dabi entered the nursery shortly after and picked up Touya. You picked up Kazue and started rocking him as Dabi rocked Touya. Eventually, the babies fell asleep. Dabi cleaned the cribs and you put the babies back into them. The smoke alarms had gone quiet moments ago. The two of you headed back to your own room to talk about what just happened.

Dabilooked at you. "What was that?" You sighed. "I think it was their quirks. Inoticed that when Kazue cried, the frostbite on the crib spread." Dabi's browfurrowed. "Frostbite? Does he have your quirk mixed with my ice gene?" Younodded. "I think so. I think Touya has your quirk since the corner of his cribwas singed and burnt. He wasn't crying much so I don't know if their quirks aresimilar." Dabi looked towards the door. "I'll have my mom take a look at Kazuetomorrow. She knows how to deal with the frostbite and ice better than I do."You paused. "...You're going to help Touya develop his fire, right?" He huffed. "Yeah.I don't want history to repeat itself." The two of you got back into bed andturned off the light. You curled into Dabi's chest, basking in his warmth. Herested his chin on the top of your head." You spoke quietly. "I was thinking..."Dabi hummed. "About?" You paused before speaking, debating on saying what you werethinking. You didn't know if it would make him more nervous or push you awayentirely. You decided against it and sighed. "Never mind. It's nothing..." Dabiknew that something was up but decided not to push it. He pulled the blankettighter over the both of you and closed his eyes, quickly falling asleep.
