Cereal isn't a liquid, the milk is. So milk with cereal would be a soup, but not cereal by itself (That would be dry) Soup can be served without a solid to eat as well.

Milk can be served without cereal. Soup can be served in a cup. Milk and cereal can be served in a bowl .Milk can be served in a bowl

Soup is a drink

Milk is a drink

cereal is not

meat that is in soup is not

Milk is a soup

cereal is not

Milk = drink, soup

Soup = drink

anything in soup = neither

Cereal = neither

Milk and cereal= soup

Soup and anything in soup (vegetables and meat, typically like a stew) = soup

Therefore, alone cereal isn't a soup Like how vegetable and meat isn't soup

the ocean is a soup, It's got meat, water, and salt

Wouldn't that bring oatmeal into question? It will

But oatmeal is mainly solid so it shouldn't be a soup, it's solid, but with liquid holding it together. It's a paste.

Paste can be edible or inedible, but paste is normally described as a malleable substance that can mold, yet hold its form. It has little to no air pockets

Resin needs to cool to hold it's form. Yet, when it cools, it becomes solid

When paste is mixed with water, it's not considered paste.

However, mix it with a few drops and it becomes thinner yet, resin will always remain solid, therefore it is not a paste. Yet, when paste dries, it also becomes solid.

Solids can be pulverized into a fine powder, and mixed with water. That can make a paste. You can do the same with solid resin However, if it is pigmented, with the right materials it can become paint.

There is a substance called "Paint paste" which is a thicker version of paint used for some 3D elements in painting

Now, a soup is usually made with stock or broth and can have vegetables, meat or fish as ingredients and is generally not very thick. A chowder may have the same ingredients, but is more chunky, creamy and thick, much like a stew.

Stew, however, is much heartier and thicker than soup. ... Another way to look at it: Soup is any combination of ingredients cooked in liquid. Stew is any dish that's prepared by stewing—that is, submerging the ingredients with just enough liquid to cook them through at a simmer in a covered pot for a long time.

OATMEAL CAN BE CREAMY IF YOU PUT MILK IN IT

So is oatmeal a chowder, therefore a stew, therefore soup? It is a combination of ingredients (oats, sometimes fruits and nuts) cooked in a liquid

Yet, meat is, but taken out, therefore not a soup so that is crossed out
