I had a mini heart attack as the toast popped out of the toaster. Slowly opening my eyes I picked out the burning hot toast.
"Ahh"
I screamed whilst throwing the slices like frisbee's across the worktop.
"You utter spaz"
"Watch your mouth or ill throw your slice on the floor".
I really don't like my brother, just because he's a year older than me he thinks he rules the world.
He held his hands up in surrender doing fishlips imitating what I just said. Toast on the floor it is.
"No you can't just throw my toast on the floor, give me yours"
"Uh no, make your own"
I began to bite into my toast, I could even feel the heat radiating off it.
But I just bit thin air.
"Hey give it back!" I dug my high heel in his foot.
There was a huge thud as he fell on the floor clenching his foot in his hands.
"And now both the pieces of the toast are on the floor and I probably have a broken foot, thanks lil"
"Oh man up you baby"
"Oh get in the kitchen and cook you woman"
"Watch it or ill break both your feet next"
"Dylan, off the floor, Lilly, you made the mess you make more, then both of you at the table"
We both obeyed, you couldn't speak back to my dad, he's scary, we're both scared of him. We would be, he's a big successful man.
"So what are your plans for today" looking straight at my brother. My life is completely irrelevant to him, he expects that if I want to go somewhere I'll obviously ask him first.
"I'm going to Jimmy's house"
I cleared my throat
When attention was drawn to me I spoke out "I'm meeting some people at school at 8 once parents evening is finished then going to a BBQ party"
"Parents evening?" Dad questioned.
"Yeah"
"I want to go"
My dad never goes to parents evening, he's always too busy at work so this surprised me a little.
Raising one eye brow I replied "ok be there by 6"
I stood up wiping the crumbs off my lap. Picked my bag up from the side of the door slinging it over my shoulder and went to wait in the car early to make sure I had front seat today.
It was the same boing drive to college, it's only a 7 minute drive but it felt like an hour.
I only had one lesson today, maths, so I could talk to Jamie and arrange where to meet him later. I really hope Maisy is better today but if it's food poisoning then I doubt she will. I don't really want to go without her because I barely know anybody going, I guess I should make friends though.
I sat on the sofas in reception waiting for anyone to come so I wouldn't have to be by myself for three hours until first period.
I was tapping my foot staring at everybody walking past but nobody I knew was there.
"Hey" I felt a tap on my shoulder, I tuned around to see Jamie.
"Maisy's still sick and at home today, but you'll still come yeah?"
