The next morning was quiet and dull. I sulked downstairs to grab some breakfast, but hardly ate any of it. Graham had a weary look on his face, tired and restless. We had apparently both not gotten much sleep.
Mom went upstairs and grabbed our bags, putting them downstairs. She placed them by the back door window, then came over to sit across from us.
"You'll have to leave..." mom started to say."
"No!" Graham yelled, banging the table with his fist. The oj in my glass spilled out as his fist connected with the wooden table.
"Graham," mom whispered to him. "You have to."
He slammed his drink onto the table and stood up, walking towards the door. "I need to fly for a bit." He took off, leaving me behind to deal with mom.
"Lindsey.." I grabbed my earphones and phone from the table and ran upstairs. Mom was talking nonsense, we'd never leave her, not for what it's worth.

When Graham got back he walked into my room and climbed on top of the bed. I hugged him, our feathers twining to make a circle around us. We had a sibling bond that was u breakable, and just the same with our mother.
"We can't do this to her," he whispered, burying his face in his wings.
I stared at my desk and looked at the directions mom gave me. I should've have gotten rid of it, but another side of me said I should keep it. It said it would be best for Graham and me.
We sat on my bed, talking back and forth about what we'd do. We tried to avoid things we'd do without mom, as we'd want her to be by our side.
A loud knock came from the door, and Graham and I raced downstairs, knowing exactly what this meant. Mom was staring blankly at the front door, not budging.
"Run," she mumbled to us. My body shook violently as I ran over and hugged her. My eyes started to water, and Graham joined in.
Mom pushed us away after several seconds, telling us to run, only this time faster. She grabbed our bags and opened up the back door, shoving them out right before they dropped from the cliff.
The front door fell over, and the cops rushed in. They walked straight towards the back of the room towards us. Panic rose inside of me and I was shedding tears that could fill a lake.
"Go!!" my mom screamed, pushing us out the window and closing the door. She stood protectively in front of it, ready to handle the men in suits.
Graham looked just as pained as I did, but he grabbed his bag, then handed me mine.
"It's what she wants," he said, standing off the cliff. I looked behind me as the cops punched mom in the face. Blood spattered on the window as I fell on my knees.
"MOM!!!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. She was kicked a couple more times before she fell to the ground, leaving the men free to come get us. Graham pulled me up and dragged me over the cliff, my heart shattered in a million pieces.

The trill of the ride was taken away as I let Graham carry me, since to me it seemed like anything else in life was worthless. The sky was darker then yesterday, and the gloomy could reflected my emotions.
I realized I'd have to live with this, even though it killed me inside. I knew for certain we'd go back for mom, but at least this is what she wanted for us.
"What about the directions?" I asked Graham, the question scaring me. If we hadn't brought it, we'd be flying to no where.
"I grabbed it on the way downstairs from your room," he said, pulling it out from his pocket. I was relieved, but didn't show it because of the tragic events.
