Young Maria áurea a 15-year-old artist from queens stared at the blank white canvas in front of her. She had sat there and stared for hours on end, not sure what to do with it. "maria! come down stairs! dinner is ready!" her mother called out for her, yet she didn't budge. at this point she was starting to get angry and frustrated with herself. she was always so, creative and full with ideas almost over flowing full of them. she looked around the room for inspiration at all of her previous art works but still, nothing. she sighed before jolting upward, her father came in, he had just come home from fighting in the war, the japanese military had him hostage but when they had been notified that the war had ended and the allies had won, they let him and his fellow soldiers go back home to their families. maria's eyes widened and tears started pooling in her eyes before escaping onto her face, rolling down her plump pink cheeks as she immediately ran toward her father and embraced him as hard as she could and didn't let go. "i see you've been busy while i was gone." her father said looking around the room at all her paintings and sculptures. "of course, i started doing more to pass time, we couldn't do much over the war apart from hide in the safety of our homes." maria sighed as she lead her father downstairs as her mother was calling yet again for them to hurry.

maria's parents sat at their small round table near the kitchen and discussed what was going to happen now, after the war. where as maria was completely zoned out still thinking of an idea for her next art piece. maria thought and thought, and well thought. she failed to think of anything until...

"fellow soldiers that were held hostage with me started going crazy. making up their own fake realities in their minds. i don't know what i'd have done if i was th..re......an.....lon...r......." everything anyone was saying every sound she was hearing before muffled and soon silenced completely. she'd finally found it, this was going to be her best piece yet.
