"What is it Senku? Is this not our goal?"
Chrome questioned.
"No, this is it, without a doubt. We've come here to collect the water of this green spring."
Senku confirmed.
"He's just worried about the landscape."
You told the boy.
"The poison gas that comes from the green spring area, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide, are heavier than the air."
"So they would collect and accumulate in a basin like this."
Senku clarified.
"Ohh, I get it! So then you can tell if that poison gas is there or not with that silver spear, right?!"
"Yeah, silver turns black when it reacts to hydrogen sulfide."
You answered in Senku's stead.
The three of you turned around to see Ginrou walking towards the spring in a daze, the tip of his spear turning black.
"Get back, Ginrou!"
Senku shouted and Kohaku luckily managed to pull him back just in time.
Some birds flew over the green spring and fell in, dissolving in the process.
Ginrou panicked and started yelling.
"Uwaaahh! Get away from me!"
Kohaku calmed him down by reassuring that there was no one there.
"The bird's feathers... they dissolved."
"Wh-what the hell? Just what is this spring water, Senku, [Y/n]?!"
Chrome queried.
"During the research of alchemy..."
"They had discovered this forbidden nectar which presently is one of the fundamental cores of all chemical industries."
Senku began.
"That chemical's name is... Sulfuric Acid."
***
All of you were currently back at the base, discussing further procedures.
"So then without that Sulfuric Acid..."
"Can we still make Ruri's cure-all?"
A worried Chrome inquired.
"Nope."
You responded and let out an apologetic sigh.
"And on top of that, if we don't secure a source of Sulfuric Acid... Then we won't be able to progress with any chemistry from here on out either."
Senku added.
"Then the only way we can get it is by force!"
"If it's to save my sister then I'll risk my life as much as it takes! With my speed- "
Kohaku yelled, ready to take off but you quickly her grabbed by the shoulder.
"Wait, Kohaku!"
"Back in my age, there was a group of researchers that went to investigate an area of Sulfuric Acid similar to this one."
