"What is it Senku? Is this not our goal?" Chrome asked.
"No, this is it, without a doubt. We've come here to collect the water of this green spring." Senku confirmed. "He's just worried about the landscape." You told the boy.
"The poison gas that comes from the green spring area, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide, are heavier than the air. So they would collect and accumulate in a basin like this." Senku clarified.
"Ohh, I get it! So then you can tell if that poison gas is there or not with that silver spear, right?!"
"Yeah, silver turns black when it reacts to hydrogen sulfide." You answered in Senku's stead. The three of you turned around to see Ginrou walking towards the spring in a daze, the tip of his spear turning black.
"Get back, Ginrou!" Senku shouted, alarmed, and Kohaku luckily managed to pull him back just in time. Some birds flew over the green spring and fell in, dissolving in the process which led to Ginrou panicking. "Uwaaahh! Get away from me!"
Kohaku calmed him down by reassuring that there was no one there. "The bird's feathers- they dissolved. Wh-what the hell? Just what is this spring water, Senku, [Y/n]?!" Chrome queried.
"During the research of alchemy they had discovered this forbidden nectar which presently is one of the fundamental cores of all chemical industries. That chemical's name is Sulfuric Acid."

All of you were currently back at the base, discussing further procedures.
"So then without that Sulfuric Acid... Can we still make Ruri's cure-all?" A worried Chrome inquired.
"Nope, that would be impossible." You responded and let out an apologetic sigh. "And on top of that, if we don't secure a source of Sulfuric Acid... Then we won't be able to progress with any chemistry from here on out either." Senku added.
"Then the only way we can get it is by force! If it's to save my sister then I'll risk my life as much as it takes! With my speed- " Kohaku yelled, ready to take off just as you quickly managed to grab her shoulder.
"Wait, Kohaku!"
"Back in my age, there was a group of researchers that went to investigate an area of Sulfuric Acid similar to this one. The man that was taking the lead, knelt down to tie his shoelace and he immediately died." Senku recounted with a dark expression.
"Beneath where he knelt down, the Hydrogen Sulfide had accumulated. This is is an actual accident that happened!" You warned them.
"In that case, what are we supposed to do Senku, [Y/n]?!"
"It's obvious isn't it?" Senku exclaimed with a slight smirk. "We're gonna make gas masks!" You and Senku announced.
In order to take down a chemical opponent... we'll fight chemistry with chemistry!
'Kukuku... I wonder just how much this will be able to withstand.' Senku pondered while inspecting the completed gas mask. 'It's not like we can afford to go with trial and error. Here, error equals death.'

You were still exhausted since earlier and decided to take your one of your beloved night-time strolls. That's also why you were currently sitting on top of a tree branch whilst dangling your legs back and forth. Suddenly, the bushes behind rustled, causing you to get into a defensive stance by instinct.
