Warnings: Crying, Someone leaving

Virgil woke up to the sound of cookware banging in the kitchen. Sighing, he rolled out of bed and walked to his wardrobe.

Pulling on a clean, white, soft, off the shoulder shirt with a pair of light blue of overalls.

Virgil walks downstairs and into the kitchen. "Good morning, papa." Virgil greeted his father, who was cooking.

"Good morning my favorite son!" His father called happily. Virgil smiled and hugged his father.

"I'm your only son, papa." Virgil laughed, as did his dad.

"True, true. That just means you have no competition." Virgil nodded with a bright smile. "Go wake up your sisters up for me please. Breakfast is 'bout it ready."

"Yes, papa," Virgil skipped off and upstairs to his older and younger sisters rooms.

Knocking on Sierra's bedroom door. Sierra is three years older then Virgil.

Virgil opened the door and is met by his sister sleeping peacefully. He shook her shoulder causing her eyes to open.

Yawning, she spoke, "What, twerp?" She asked. Sierra was a loving sister, just in a odd way.

"Breakfast is ready. Get dressed and meet us downstairs. I'm going to wake Linsey." Virgil said. Sierra nodded and sat up in bed.

Virgil left the room and went across the hall. Knocking on Linsey's, who is three years younger then him, door before opening it. Repeating the process he did with Sierra, he woke her up before going back downstairs.

"Children, as you know I'm going back out for a few weeks. Sierra is in charge as usual. But, I would like to bring you each a gift. What would you like?" Virgil's father asked.

"Ooo!~ I want a dress of the finest silk, father!" Linsey yelled.

"What color dress would you like, honey?" Their father asked with a light smile.

"The prettiest, lightest, pink!" Linsey spoke, happily, stars shinning in her eyes.

"Very well, What about you, Sierra?" Sierra looked up at the mention of her name.

"I would like a new writing journal. I've filled mine full, and would like a new fresh one. Maybe one with a smooth leather?" She spoke, she was always nicer around their father. To get on his good side.

"I'll see what I can do. Virgil, son? What would you like?"

"You to come home safely." Virgil said gently. His father smiled lovingly.

"Now, now, you say that every time. What would you really like? What is something you've been wanting?" Their father asked.

"Well, there is this book..." Virgil trailed off.

"What is the book, my child? You've read every book in the local library, four times now. You need a new, fresh book to read."

"It's called In the Woods by Tana French. I've been wanting to read it since I seen it in the papers a few weeks back." Virgil said, a longing in his eyes.

"Then I won't come back til I get your book! You'll get that book!" Virgil smiled widely and hugged his father.

"Thank you! Thank you!" Virgil said happily. "I appreciate it so!"

His father laughed and hugged Virgil back, motioning the other two into the hug. They had a group hug.

"I should get on my way, children. I'll try my best to bring what you want home." Virgil teared up at his father's words.

"Come home safe, please, papa. I couldn't stand it without you." Virgil's father wiped his tears eyes.

"I'll be back home, my son. I promise it." Virgil nodded and hugged his father once more.

Saying their last goodbyes, the three children watched as their father roll away in their old car.

Virgil cried a little more before going into the house.

He does this every time his father leaves. He's very attached to his father, especially since their mother passed.

But, his father will come home. Right?
