Capter 4: Can we keep her?

Aprils POV

Me and Liam stayed behind to get the rest of the traps up for Chris while him and Scott went to get Kira to go check on the others and get Chris caught up on everything. "Hey" I look up at Liam who was keeping his distance, I could feel his fear of the noise admitters.

What he doesn't know is they give me a headache too and I have no intention of telling him, I don't want him to help even though he's scared of them. "I was wondering what were you walking in the woods for earlier anyway" oh my god I completely forgot "damnit I forgot I saw this husky it was a puppy and it looked injured I had lost it and was gonna call Scott to see if he could help me catch it's sent right before you tackled me" he looked at the ground scratching his neck when I finished that sentence

"yea sorry about that" I pick up the last of the noise things and walked over to where he was standing "it wasn't your fault besides you didn't hurt me" I put my hand on his cheek again and then he looks like a lightbulb went off in his head "I can't try and track down the husky for you" I chuckle and throw the bag of traps over my shoulder "let's go then"

we walk back to where he found me and he starts sniffing around he's getting frustrated. I smile and put a hand on his shoulder he looks over at me confused "just stand right here and take a deep breath and then focus on the one that your gut tells you smells like a husky" he nods and does what I said before he starts following the sent I follow behind him.

we find ourselves at a small creek "is my jumping increased too" he seems a little too excited about this he doesn't have complete control yet "I mean yea bu-" I'm cut of by him grabbing my waist and pulling my close before jumping his hand still resting on my waist as he takes another deep breath

"Liam you had no idea if you were gonna make that" I put my hands on my hips and his let's go of my waist and starts walking when I don't follow he grabs my hand and pulls me along intertwining our hands. "It's close" Liam slowed down and we both kept quiet my hand never leaving his.

we hear a whimper and I drop down so I'm crouching Liam yelps quietly as I drag him down too "sorry" I whisper the dog sees Liam and starts growling Liam looks offended and almost started growling back but I caught the dogs attention and it stopped growling

Liam looked over at me as I eased the dogs nerves "did you hurt your paw" the dog looked at it's front paw then back to me "would you like some help" the dog looked at Liam "oh him" I looked at Liam then back to the dog "he won't hurt you he can help you though" the dog got a little closer and then I remembered a trick Deaton taught me "would you like a treat because I've got some at home" the dogs ears perked up and It sniffed in Liams direction before walking to me.

I let it sniff my hand and then pet it for a minute before picking it up and standing. I gesture for Liam to come closer and then he let the dog sniff him "you wanna take some of its pain" Liam looked at me questionably "can I?" I nod and he smiles "just put you hand on her" he does so and winces when he sees the black in his veins then looks at me "it doesn't hurt that bad"

I smile knowing that means her fracture isn't that bad "that means there's not that much pain to take" he nods before we start walking to the road we were told to meet at Deatons and they gave me Kiras keys bc I'm the better driver (I might not be I just like watching Liam pout).

"Soooooo meet Persephone or perse" I smile at the group standing it front of me Liam is holding the dog "huh dogs didn't like me when I first got bit" I smile proudly at Scott's statement "she didn't at first" he then nodded to me "she apparently speaks dog" my grin grows and Deaton chuckles "she does now"

Liam nods as he puts the puppy on the table "she can't be more then a year old" Deaton nods his head as I hand him the numbing medicine veil "I'm thinking the break is in her paw" Deaton looks up from the dog "what makes you say that" I swallow nervously "instincts April follow your gut" I nod "well there doesn't appear to be too much swelling in her actual leg it's more down here and when you feel for fractures she lets you touch her leg but not her paw"

he nods agreeing before patting it down with numbing medicine so we can get a clear x ray "also I taught Liam how to take her pain and he said it wasn't to painful which made me think it's a minor fracture" Deaton smiles "you really are on your way to becoming a supernatural and animal vet huh?" I scratch my neck embarrassed nobody knew I'd wanted to be a vet.

Aprils POV

it's now 10 am on a Saturday me and Liam are in stiles jeep as we pull into his driveway he says good bye to perse and me and then we head to my house. Have I asked my dad if I can have the dog I'm currently bringing home? No I have not I'm calling it his surprise for saying yes. "So I did a thing" I smile widely as I hold the dog with a wrapped paw in front of my dad "I'm not cleaning up after it" he looks back at the papers on the table "ok and it's a she her name is Persephone or perse for short" he chuckled and looked at me through his glasses "isn't that the Greek goddess you talk about all the time" i can't believe he knew that "yes yes it is" he shakes his head with a smile "well as long as you clean up after her she can stay but as soon as I step in dog crap she's only got three strikes and I'll help you look for a dog house to get her" I laugh at his comment "thank you" I hug him and me and perse head to my room.
