The night looked like a sheet that protected the city from all the existing dangers. Sometimes Frank wished he could do the same for Jake. The little man wasn't perfect, but he wasn't a despicable human either.

For Frank, the crush he had on Jake was an unexpected surprise. When he started his job at that company, feelings were forbidden. No one was to bow down to anyone.

After they found the turbine, Frank's mission was to bring Jake and his friends to the company.

Frank didn't know what they were going to do to them, it was none of his business. It was until Jake showed a genuine side to him.

At that moment Frank's heart allowed itself to feel something. As he spent more time with Jake, new feelings grew. At first, he wanted to be indifferent, but the younger boy complicated things.

If it wasn't his proud smile or his amazing skateboard tricks. It was his intelligence. One that few wanted to notice.

He gradually learned to accept his crush, letting Jake into his life as more than just a cargo.

Frank smiled tenderly as he approached the bed where Jake was sleeping. It was incredible to believe what had happened two years after the company where he worked was shut down.

He finally had the freedom to make his own decisions, to have a life in peace. And in those moments more than ever he wanted to stay by Jake's side.

The younger one, without thinking about it, accepted the proposal of a relationship. Sometime later he suggested the idea of living together. One of the reasons was his eager independence, at first his mother denied him the opportunity, but after learning all about Frank and understanding his point of view, she allowed Jake to go.

Frank saw movement on the bed. Jake had turned around facing his partner. The taller one let out a chuckle. He would never regret everything he had done to get to where he was.

With cautious steps he leaned down in front of the bed, looking at the peaceful face of the boy. He gently stroked the brown hair. He saw a slight smile on Jake's face and couldn't avoid give him a small kiss on the forehead.

"Good night, little one," he whispered and then stopped stroking his hair. "Don't worry about anything. I'm here with you now. And I won't let any of them dare to hurt you. That's a promise"

He stood up, regaining his composure. He tried to get rid of his coat and gloves, then remembered that his type of clothing had changed. He shook his head at the action.

It didn't take him long to lie down on the bed next to Jake. No sooner had he settled in than he felt the little man snuggle up against his body. Frank smiled warmly, wrapped an arm around the younger man's waist and closed his eyes.

Hoping that the next few days will continue to be as quiet as this.
