Nellie's pov, first person. Nellie is 14 here.

The underworld isn't as bad as I thought it was. I learned that heaven and hell are almost the same place. Walking through the tall, wilting grass that was barely scorched, marking that there was a demon fight there, I heard a voice behind me.

"Hey!" No, they were below me. "Hey! You're stepping on me! Could you get off of me? Your stepping on my tail (handle) and it's really pissing me off." They growled with such frustration that I jumped backwards in surprise.

"Thank you," the voice grunted.

The person got up. Well, it wasn't a person. It was a scythe. My eyes widen. A very pretty and shiny one too.

"What are you staring at?!" The scythe questioned. "Never seen an enchanted weapon before?"

I shook my head. No, I've never seen one before.

It sighed. "You must be a new soul. Such ignorance humans have..."

How are we ignorant if enchanted weapons don't exist on our Earth? I thought.

"Hey," the scythe said, trying to make small talk. "What's your name?"

"Nellie," I answered, not knowing why I was telling a stranger my name even if they were just a scythe.

"That's a guy name," it snickered.

I ignored it. "How about you?"

"Sharp," it said.

"Because your blade is sharp?" It was my turn to mock him. Though, I don't think I'm that good at doing that.

"It's just a name my former wielder gave me, that is, before I had to urge to kill him," Sharp chuckled, psychotically. "I succeeded like always."

For some reason, that didn't make me fear it at all. I was merely intrigued. Maybe, it could help me get revenge on my killer.

"Where are you headed to?" It asked, curiously.

"Nowhere in particular," I replied. "I'm just exploring."

"Mind if I come with you?"

"Sure."

And that's how our friendship blossomed into the partnership we have today.
